Sonnet on Adversity and Stuff

The butterfly both grace and beauty hath
But from a humble caterpillar grew;
Against her cocoon straining on a path
To wings with strength to bear her as she flew.
The tulip blossom, elegant and bright
Will never bloom 'til first a frost she sees.
She bears her winter, striving for the light
And gaining strength from her adversities.
We share the butterfly's and tulip's life.
We cannot strength obtain, nor wisdom know
Except by earning both through constant strife
And not by simply wishing it were so.
Your current struggles, burdens though they are,
Will seem like blessings, once viewed from afar.
