~ A tad different~

Billy Grahams daughter was interviewed on the Early show and Jane Clayson asked her"How could God let something like this happen?"(regarding the attacks on Sep 11).Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.

She said, I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are,but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, government and to get out of our lives....And being the Gentleman He is,I believe He calmly backed out.How can we expect God to give us his blessing and his protection if we demand He leave us alone? In light of recent events....terrorist attacks, school shootings etc.I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'hare(she was murdered, her body found recently)complained she didnt want prayer in school, and we said OK.Then someone said you better not read the bible in school. The bible says thou shalt not kill nor steal and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.Then Dr Benjamin Spock said we should not spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem(Dr Spock's son committed suicide)We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.Now we are asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they dont know right from wrong ,and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates and themselves.................I would love to hear your point of view on this....(pls keep in mind this is not necessarily my view on things

let's start here:
my conclusions, of course.

feelings follow behavior.

the real beneficial effect of religious thought on human existence is to produce a preferred set of values and idealized behaviors which in turn lead a person generally in a certain direction of emotional and behavioral stimulation, interaction and growth.

We use words like morality and ethicism to define these areas of growth.

But the underlying reality is that when the mind is stilled, and thought and ego abated, there emerges a vibrant life energy, filled with compassion and love. In as much as the effect of religious dogma, and by extension, the development of morality and ethicism is accomplished in an individual, it has the consequence of evoking a greater closenes to the living reality of our unity in love.

However, it is an indirect and mechanistic approach. The life is there. Compassionate love wells within each one of us, simply waiting for us to be still, know it and allow it to emerge.

The great gift is knowing this. The disciplines for getting out of the way are thousands of years old. The ideas of religion, God, and social responsiblities and conseqences, while never irrelevant, are not to the point.

The point is what occurs when we are simply being. and what is found is that we are all connected through compassionate love more powerfully than through any other life energy that occurs within us.

The mechanism of disconnection from this internal reality, or failure of religious institutions is probably best viewed as part of natural and predictable process associated with the life cycle of cultures. We are not the first culture to have a developmental life cycle. All do. Our culture is aging and deteriorating as a natural consequence of many identifiable forces and processes, which I clearly don't have time to describe here.

But the important thing for each of us as persons, is that deity,as much as i understand it exists, and grace, forgiveness and compassionate love that brings tears to my eyes as i write this are available to each one of us, each moment of the day, if we will just make those choices of love and forbearance, of wisdom and mercy. What we choose to do or say how we interact with each person each moment is a sacred devotion which either actualizes love or causes suffering.

Our host has an intimate knowledge of these things...and is well disciplined in the art of kindness and forbearance. Our paths are paved with our choices in the moment. Some of us a very grateful for the manner in which we are treated.

I give you all this in love.

"Be Still and Know God"(which MUST include Goddess). In that stillpoint we discover who God/Goddess is and now longer give our power to the false ones.As was said in the old "est"training: "You are God you asshole".
