A thought on language sometimes used -

This was a post i recently HAD to leave on a chat board...needless to say, if this doesn't make sense to you..we are not a fit...would love to hear others views

"So, sweet, attractive “screen name deleted”, I have taken the chance to stand up and live what I teach. PLEASE reconsider your reference to sexually active people as sluts.

I could not have been more disappointed by your language in a recent post. Society can be very hard on single women enjoying a sexually expressive life. Well, on women in general. The notion of sexually active men as achievers and sexually active women as less than real women is still prevalent. I have chosen to date and meet friends through AdultFriendFinder to get away from these ridiculous notions. I can certainly walk down the streets of downtown Denver any day at lunch and realize that many people would see a woman such as me, enjoying the hedonistic pleasure that a physical body can provide, as illicit or inappropriate. Being sexually expressive or active, DOES NOT take away from my brain, compassion or contribution to society. I will stand up and repeat this to anyone: in my business, in my church, in my home, in my social circles.

When, as women, we continue to propagate the notion that sexually active women are “sluts” (whore’s, or any other feminine intending insults), we continue to be repressive/repressed, instead of viewing our sexuality and expression of it, as a gift of our physical form. Hence the numbers of women on AdultFriendFinder that will email and seek companionship yet never meet or follow through. Society has told so many they are sluts [and intended it to be degrading, as it appears you did] for having sex.

Again I ask, PLEASE reconsider your reference to sexually active people as sluts. It really concerns me that you are on a swinger’s website and you see it appropriate to use such language. Can’t we do away with such a word, and its intended meaning?

I hope I get the opportunity to purchase you a beverage and visit with you (specific time and place deleted), as I am planning on attending. I have enjoyed meeting so many singles, and a few couples at previous M&G ‘s ‒ I guess I did not realize “most” were couples. Tex ‒ is so awesome in managing this board and gatherings!!!!! Sorry for taking it off target (it is important).

Licks, kisses and naughty thoughts to you!
Susie

Oh ya big slut! Hee hee! Although I enjoy being called a man-slut at times , I couldn't agree more with what you say. Very well written, and you drive home the hippocracy in our culture regarding men somehow being "allowed" to be sexually active while women are looked down upon for the same behavior. It's total bullshit, and I'd like to think our culture is changing for the better. I'm doing my best to change it, anyway.

Remember this, you gorgeous sexy woman: these are just labels, and the only meanings that can be applied are our own interpretations. Sticks and stones can break my bones..

Thanks for speaking up. You are beautiful! Hear hear.

Hugs,
G
