Frigging amazing..........................................................

Vehicle on fire after being hit with an RPG, foot long shrapnel wound from hip to butt big enough to put a fist in, and my nephew not only manages to get himself out and to safety but manages to rescue his buddy (who lost both legs) from the other seat as well.

If this kid doesn't get a medal, I'm personally gonna go put a boot in Donald Rumsfeld's ass.

Funny how so little seperates us at times, hurt or not, live or die, it's such a fine line and there's no accounting for it.

He's getting some really good care right now, we got ahold of Operaton First Response and had a visit and a bag full of all the little things that he could need (and she brought him in a hamburger too ). He'll be back to DC by the end of next week or earlier, then the hard recovery starts.

That's great to hear. Let him know we appreciate his service and sacrifice and wish him a quick recovery. Is there anything we can provide for soldiers in his position?

The best thing I can think of is to support Operation First Response (operationfirstresponse.org).

I never thought that he'd do anything like that, but I think you never know how someone is going to act until they get in the situation. The strongest may crack completely and the meekest may do something super-human.

For that kind of bravery I'd think you'd have company in your ass kicking venture.
Glad he'll ultimately be ok. Sorry to hear about his bud. I pray we don't fail to take care of those who took cars of us.
