Step 1 CHECK...and I am having a blonde offense!!!

Well, I went to face the judge today with my request for a restraining order. Luckily a woman from the Domestic Violence program came with me. The judge (who knows my hubby from previous incidences prior to me knowing him) was quick to grant it for me. Yeah. I was happy, but the woman told me that I was the fourth woman to request one in the last couple of months, and I was the only one to get it! That makes me sad for the other three women.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the domestic violence couselor and then go to a hearing on Wednesday to talk to the judge with hubby there. I guess we're going to discuss some things and he, the judge, will determine if the restraining order remains in effect.

OKAY, Now for the funny thing that happened to me today. The domestic violence people (which is called WINGS) went over a safety plan with me yesterday. This is a list of things that I should do to keep safe. You know, lock all doors and windows, change the locks, keep a set of keys outside in case you need to get away, keep your car keys in your pocket, have 911 programed into your phone and have it with you at all times. Well, I live out in the country and I'm not used to locking my doors, but I did what they told me to do. Today, I was doing some laundry and realized I needed to go outside for a minute...long story....about birds...ask me some other time and I'll blog about it...anyway, since I was doing laundry, all I had on was a panties, no shorts, just a shirt. When I was going to come back in the house, I realized that I had forgetton to UNLOCK the door behind me!!! So here I am, in just a shirt, locked out of my house AND my car!!! The only two places there are house keys! I'm like, okay, keep you're cool, you are going to figure out what to do, even if it means breaking a window. I checked, and yep, I had locked all the windows except for one...The one blocked by the TV in the living room! I got the screen off, and opened the window, but if I was going to crawl through there, I would have to knock the TV over, and I wasn't about to do that! Now what was I going to do? I went back to my original door and tried to break the small window in it. Of course the glass didn't want to break. So then I thought, I'll be like one of my students and try to use something between the door and the frame to open it...NOPE didn't work. OKAY, I had a hammer and ended up breaking the doorknob off and then twisting the inner mechanism to where the door would open! Lesson to this story, change the knobs like the people from WINGS suggested and keep a set outside! Luckily, I'd already bought a set of door knobs.

I was really starting to sweat that I was going to have to walk to the neighbors, who live 3/10 of a mile from me in just a shirt!!! Fortunately, it was long enough that I wasn't exposing anything unless I bent over!!!

Things to do tonight: change the doorknob and hide a set of keys (and maybe a set of clothes)!!! lol

I see you haven't lost your sense of humor in all of this.

The other part that stands out is that you are the forth person the ask for a restraining order. Gald that you got one.
