I was sitting in the bath last night listening to the BBC World Service. Here in the UK the World Service always replaces Radio.4 at around 1am.
The news was on and they were talking about the bombing in Mumbai. Not nice.
Now since the bank I work for has a call centre in Mumbai the massacre is very concerning. None of my Indian colleagues were hurt but you can bet some of them will have lost relatives in the attacks.
I speak to the staff in Mumbai almost daily so when I hear the all-too-familiar accents talking about the horrific scenes it all feels very close.

I went to bed with a heavy heart. This sort of thing brings home how lucky I am to be living the life I live. There are people like me in India, who sit at a similar desk, suffer the same customers and suffer the same appraisal sessions etc. But they can not go to work without wondering if they're going to be attacked.

My thoughts are with them at this time.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.

I am sorry. I hope you didn't lose any of your friends in India. I don't know why these atrocities keep going on, but they always have, and probably always will, until there is no one left on earth. Sorry to write such a downer.

Thanks for your comments. Happily the company HR departments did a full headcount and we did not lose anyone. More luck than anything else. However it is worrying and only a matter of time before call centres become direct targets.
