Baseball, BBQ, BountyHunters and other male bonding...

Why do I always write about the weekends?

`Cause I don't do anything exciting during the week...except work.

Okay...Friday...Son 1 had 2 baseball games at Texas Tech, won both..good deal. His 'real' love goes there, but she's in Cali in a golf tournament and called the house. He met up with a volleyball player he's known for several years from Round Rock..they went out after the games.

Son2 and I are at the high school football game in Round Rock...we won..better part of the game was at the end: the Texas Tech marching band came onto the field after the game and rehearsed their halftime performance. Great performance. We go to Chilis afterward and scarf burgers. First Foster beer in several weeks...think I'll have another...I knew there was a reason Son2 was learning to drive.

The former Mrs is not at her home...she called earlier saying she is spending the night elsewhere (!?)...I am so glad I'm not married to her anymore...something about leopards and their spots comes to mind. Her hubster is still in Cali..been for two months..will be for another three..he came back a few weeks ago and she had the flu the entire time. Same old girl...if she doesn't get any steady loving, she'll find some.

Son2 and I get up Saturday..look at a bunch of cars before noon...he's driving the 'new' Grand Prix and wants the old one for his first car.("uh...no. Work on the Camaro and it'll be your first car")..We stop by the Former Mrs house so he can get some clothes...and the Former Mrs comes home. Looks like I figured she would. She IS in a good mood, though. Whatever.

We're at buddy Randy's BBQ place for the UTx-TxTech game...yawn. Smear. A&M wins. Cool...

We catch a good movie at the Alamo Drafthouse.... good if you like the GuyMovie stuff: Domino.

Oh yes. Son2 is looking at Micky Rourke as a role model, especially after Sin City. Rourke is a bail bonding agent (or bounty hunter, but I disliked that term when I was in the business) and gets involved in a kidnap/switch/robbery scheme. Shoot`em up..lot of blood, etc. Very Guy Movie. Two thumbs up.

I call Son1...they lost the first game this morning..he pitched the second game & they tied 5-5...he isn't happy with his performance, thinks he could've pitched better. Oh well...

We work out at the gym for an hour...going over lower body routines...he's in soccer and wants to work legs a lot.

Around 11pm we head out to Austin's 6th St and get coffee at Katz's Deli..walk around the freakshow that 6th Street has become. The street is barricaded for pedestrian traffic and they're there...I buy a custom painting for him..the artist is a guy I've seen there for years: paints with spray cans, newspapers and odds & ends...forms surrealistic moonscapes, sci-fi scenery...amazing stuff.

Sunday Morning...haven't been to church since May. I'm starting to miss it again. Son2 and I lounge..watch 'To Live and Die in LA'...one of my favorite movies.

We head out to the shop and start on the Camaro...pull off the front bumper cover to straighten the core support and work on suspension. Former Mrs comes by and hangs out....for an hour. No mention of what she did the nights before...I think she wants to flaunt it. Same old girl...

I place an ad to sell the `04 Chevy truck. With two Grand Prix', a Camaro and two Chevy trucks...the insurance is over $650 a month. The truck gets 18mpg on a good day..the Grand Prix gets 34mpg highway. I don't need an `04 anything...time to sell. It's really going up after I put Son2 on...with HIS Camaro.

Former Mrs takes him home...I just love that little guy. He absolutely is my life. Another great weekend with the kid....something to keep me young.

So I spend the rest of the night doing what I was supposed to do all weekend: catching up on the work I've been putting off.....Monday morning peeks through my window and I'm still at the desk. A good weekend. Busy. Can't wait until the workweek so I can catch a breath..

Hi Jim, we missed you there in Chicago, but time spent with your children certainly takes precedence. Once again, your pace leaves me breathless. I hope YOU are remembering to breath yourself! Hugs, friend{=}
