36 THE HOOK THAT DRIPPED BLOOD

36 THE HOOK THAT DRIPPED BLOOD
There was a lone car out there in the deep dark woods. Chris and his girlfriend Becky were making out in that car. She was a little nervous being alone out there, so he decided to play some romantic music from the disk player on the car desk to get his girl in the mood. So they never heard about the news reports that were on the radio. Chris had just meet Becky, and she seemed the type of girl that would go all the way with him. He had a special evening planned out for them-a private one, far away from the usual hangouts. The location was a secluded clearing in the woods. So far away that the only way to get to it was by a pair of tire tracks worn into the underbush for the whole distance. Chris had his hand up Becky's shirt groping her when a noise louder than the night creature's symphony of sound knifed through the darkness. Crack! Crack! The chirps and chitters of the nocturnal animals stopped suddenly. Becky lifted her head from Chris's shoulder to listen. Sensing her nervousness, Chris assured her that it was just the sound of branches falling from a tree. They sometimes did that in the forest, where the limbs, could grow too big for the trees to support their weight. When Chris started kissing Becky, he was oblivious to everything else except the feeling of her skin beneath his fingers and a growing sense of warmth. So he wasn't even aware of anything wrong until he felt Becky pull sharply away from him, asking what the noise was. Click-click. Click-click. Click-click. It sounded to Chris like crab pincers clicking together, which was ridiculous. Considering where they were and how big the crab would have to be to make so loud a noise. They heard the sound again. Click-click. Click-click. Click-click. It was closer this time. Then a light breeze blew through the window, stirring leaves across the rear window. Chris told Becky to relax. It was just the sound of a twig slapping against the trunk. This wasn't a scene from one of those cheesy horror movies they watched at the drive-in, he reminded her. It was just a date, and they were both supposed to be enjoying it. Chris directed Becky's attention through the windshield. There was a break at the top of trees, and a full moon was rising. This was what he had wanted her to see. Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! A long scratching noise sounded outside Becky's window and Chris felt her harden like a rock in his embrace. She was frightened and demanded to be taken home. Seeing that the argument wasn't getting her through to him, Becky got out of the car and stormed off into the woods. Yelling back behind her to Chris that she would find her own way home. Chris then got out of the car too and ran to catch her. He apologized to her and they made up. They slowly walked back to his car hand in hand. But once back in the car and seeing his chance of sinking the titanic with her had failed miserable. Chris's rage finally bubbled over. Heedless of what the surrounding trees might do to his car, he revved the car's engine, slewed the vehicle around, then peeled out back down the bumpy tire ruts, sending rocks and dirt flying beneath his wheels. All the way back To Becky's house he scolded her for acting like such a baby. When Chris pulled into the driveway of her house, Lisa barely waited for him to stop the car before wrenching the door open to run inside. He promised to call her later then drove off. Chris's mind was already on what he would do for the rest of the evening. "Probably rent some porn movies and play ping pong with his ding dong" And on that thought, In a hurry to get back home, and wanting to pass the slow moving vehicle in front of him, Chris happened to glance into his rear view mirror, and a shock of pure terror paralyzed him. He saw a psychopath staring back at him through the mirror, and holding up a meat hook he used as a hand. At the flash of the blade, that was all he would ever see again. When Chris didn't return her calls, Becky notified his parents and the police who went on a search and rescue team. Sadly, after weeks of searching, they finally found Chris. In a blood stained bed sheet coffin.
