Bogie, BaCall, Mutley,Baroness,Curvymeli, and other things

Curvymeli has made it to the next round of mageehees contest. Yea!!!! Go meli.
Baroness, again Happy birthday and thank you for that wonderful blog. Btw ya'll B has officially named me a comment wanker. That's where Mutley comes in. My Family Crest would be a picture of Mutley with the caption "Give Me Medal" under it. Wonder what the Latin is for that?
In her blog she brought up some wonderful old movie lines. I love the old black and white movie classics and Humphrey Bogart is one of the best. Kinda givin my age away but wtf. Anyway a young 20 year old girl made her screen debut in a movie called To Have Or Have Not. This was really a prime role as she was co staring with Bogie who was alresdy making a name for himself as a leading man. This girl was Lauren BaCall. OMFG!! was she every beautiful. A line from that movie, in dialog with Bogie she says to him "If you need me just whistle,You no how to whistle don't you? after a pause she tells him, Put your lips together and blow" I know I'm not doing very well conveying the image, you really should see the movie if you haven't. Walter Brennan also co stared, he was grand pa from the Real McCoys, and at the time was one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. Lot of people don't know that. He played a sot, always drinking, and had a habit of asking people "Was you ever bit by a dead bee." Well of course everybody would think he was just a crazy ole drunk but not BaCall's character. She replied yes, have you and instantly the friendship was bonded. Damn, I'm going to go rent it this evening. Any body want to snuggle on the couch and watch old movies?
So borrowing from Baroness acouple of more of Bogies lines:
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings" yea right.
"I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me."
"It doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people doesn't add up to a hill of beans in this crazy world." Casablanca I think. Of course the big line and I don't remember exactly which movie it was, was "Here's lookin at you kid"
In the movie Casablanca it is often said that he remarked to the piano player, "Play it again Sam" he never actually said that.
Now this is fer sure a framble huh. Sooo many things going through my head right but it is almost the weekend and time for me to rest my weary eyes and mind, not to mention the plans I have, (winks) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'm sure I will.

"If you look at the 'You know how to whistle, don't you?' scene -- I'm holding a cigarette and it's shaking like a leaf. I was 19 then. I'm a little better now." On The Look: She has quipped, "I used to tremble from nerves so badly that the only way I could hold my head steady was to lower my chin practically to my chest and look up at Bogie. That was the beginning of The Look." She explained another time, "It began because Howard Hawks, who had discovered me and to whom I was under contract and who directed To Have and Have Not and The Big Sleep wanted to me to have this look where I had my chin down and my eyes up, which of course is not so attractive now at my age, but then it worked well. The lighting was always in the shadows, black and white, Venetian blinds. He was brilliant about all that. Suddenly the press called it ‘the Look’. Obviously, I didn't know what I was doing. He (Hawks) Svengali-ed me and created me out of this terrified creature who had just arrived from the Big Apple. He was a great moviemaker, had tremendous variety in his career. But he had always wanted to create a star out of an unknown, and he succeeded with me. He showed me many things. He always told me about the other actresses he had worked with, how he showed them the way and how he always won. He had a big quirk thing about actresses -- he really wanted to mold a young woman. And he did it. Then Bogart stepped in and ruined everything {for Hawks}." {Lauren Bacall}

And I know all about your weekend plans...wanker! Have fun, play safe, yada yada....
