My first flight.....

In just a few days I will be leaving on a trip of a lifetime... Going to Paris France for 7 days. Now I have never been on a plane, not once. Never been out of the country, unless you count that trip to Niagra Falls I was on as a teenager.

I am almost all packed, except for the last minute stuff. And although I am excited, I am also scared spitless about flying. The funniest thing is that on my first flight I am crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Nothing like doing it big.
My youngest child sat me down last week and told me exactly what to expect. And others that have flown have told me it was no big deal. Problem is that I had a friend that was killed in a plane crash, and I swore I would never fly...but it is a helluva long swim to France. And I don't drink either but I am a smoker. So here I sit wondering how a very nervous first time non drinking smoking flyer is going to survive this adventure.

And I wonder if the airports have a place for smokers to smoke once they have checked in for the flight. We have to be there hours before the flight actually leaves. Once we check in there is no stepping out for a smoke I am sure...

Would someone please pass the valium LOL

H&H107, there is still a place for us smokers, however, it is usually FAR FAR away and outside!! Good luck, you'll be fine.

Ask one of those guys on the golf carts where you can smoke (extending a $5 will get you a ride there!).

Bon Voyage!

By the time you get over the Atlantic you're going to be bored.

I'm pretty sure that you will enjoy yourself...summer is a great time to be in Paris.

Agreed with Iron, you'll be bored in no time. The luster of being a plane tends to wear off real quick. But flying is my prefered method of traveling; I'll be flying to Ohio in August to meet someone off this site. I would say I've flown close to 20 times, which is impressive considering I'm not that old and my job profession doesn't require air travel.

Have fun, and tell us all about Paris.

I hope you take that valium on the way. You're going to be so upset that you might not enjoy the plane and the people. There's a part of the fun you can get into AND the people on the plane speak English. Enjoy the Paris nights, the museums and just walking. It's soooo different. Some night, sit out on your balcony, warm bread/cheese and your favorite companion. Just talk until you're talked out then go to sleep. Treat your companion to a greaaaaaaaaatttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!! morning. You'll love this trip. Get pictures / collect good memories. and do at least one Frenchie. Later
