Are there any friendly, sane people in this city?

Well, we've been here 6 months now and still having a tough time meeting cool, normal people. The few cool people we have met have moved away. They say they were glad to finally get out of this city, Everyone we meet asks us WHY the hell did we move here?, well steph's grandma is getting up there and she wants to spend as much time with her as she can. Steph is originally from here, her parents and her moved to PA when she was in 9th grade, to get her away from trouble, little did they know that i was the biggest trouble she would ever find, lol, anyway, i'm thankful that her parents moved to PA, cause i found my life partner. People are so rude around here, always in a hurry, seems like no one knows how to drive, If there are any funloving, friendly, people out there who would like to befriend a laidback, funloving, and best of all ,freaky couple, dont hesitate to write us,

I've been here for almost 3 years and after reading your comments, I almost though it was myself writing. I haven't made many friends either, and I consider myself to be pretty outgoing. I'm not really sure what the deal is with people here in town, and I often find myself wondering why I continue to live here. Then I remember the long cold winters of the East and am thankful for 300-something days of sunshine. The parts of Vegas I see were definitely not showcased on the Travel Channel.
PS-Wait til it rains; if you think they're bad on a sunny day, just see how bad it is when the oil-slick roads become part of the equation.

Our luck here has been very different here in Las Vegas, as far as making friends. If it were strictly the people, I think we'd make Vegas our home for good. We've met some very nice people, nearly all in the lifestyle and we know most will be friends for a very long time. We are just not desert people. Both of us were raised on the coast and are used to waking up to the sounds of the ocean. We both long for green hills and beaches lined with tanned bodies. We'd settle for green. To escape and get away at times may I suggest Mt. Charleston. It was a big surprise to see this alpine area in the middle of the desert.

Yes there are sane people here in Vegas as long as you’re not driving, as reflected by the highest insurance rates we've ever paid. That's the big surprise here. Yes the rent was cheaper when we moved but wow, the car insurance made up for it. In just under 2 years of living here we have witnessed 3 car accidents and we drive by one or 2 nearly everyday. When asked why we get "well there are so many people here from so many different places" nope it's 24 hour drinking and gambling. People get hit by drunks on their way to take their kids to school in the morning here in Vegas and it happens almost everyday.
