Like a candle in the wind

Ruby Starr was the most foxalicious thing to ever strut the stage at Winterland Arena. She got her start as a back up singer for Jim Dandy and Black Oak Arkansas. Her Band Grey Ghost was opening for Mahogany Rush, and Black Sabbath.
(Ozzy was in top form that night 1976)
The moment she walked out on stage my eyes almost popped out of my head. There was more hair than girl and it was all bright red. Now Ruby was wearing a red glitter bra top and some short daisy dukes with the tail of some critter attached to the side. She was like Ellie Mae Clampett gone schizo/nympho. I almost forgot to mention wow could she sing, I have two vinyls that I guard like my daughters cherry. I only saw Ruby that once but always wanted to see her act again.
A couple of years ago I was looking on the internet and was saddened to learn of the passing of Ruby from terminal lung cancer. She had actually finished out her career as a Las Vegas performer and had given up on rock to go back to her country roots.
I will miss Ruby she was one of a kind.
