Walking Wounded

Like children with owies that a parent has yet to clean, put a bandaid, and kiss to make better...we walk our world.

We are everywhere: in the grocery stores, at the gym, in the taverns, on our motorbikes/scooters, in our AA meetings, our churches, AdultFriendFinder meet n greets, summer Seafair events, ball parks.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

"God doesn't hand us anything He doesn't think we can handle."

"Karmic Law rules."

I have heard so many platitudes and advice from so many people. I am not sure what of any I believe in, except I have always known that nothing is under our control, NOTHING.

But in order to move on we all must somehow reach the conclusion that the best revenge, the best way to scream at the universe all of our sorrow and rage, is to live a good life.

We all die alone at the end. But to die without a soul means we cannot look back with certainty that our presence on this earth left any tracks.

We die and take only the love we made in this world. We die and leave only the loving memories behind. Living a good life ensures, to me, that I loved and allowed myself to be loved with every cell in my body, every neurosynapse, every beat of my heart.

I will kiss your owies and you will kiss mine and we will live our lives with excellence. God or no god, there are angels here in those of us who live soulfully, and they will guide us.

When all is said and done, those that you have touched will remember you!

"... that I loved and that I allowed myself to be loved with every cell in my body." This lined reminds so much of the Nat King Cole song "Nature Boy". One of my favorite songs of all time because it contains the simple line "The greatest thing you"ll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return". What a powerful concept. One of the few truths in life.
