Online Harassment

I am very disturbed at what I learned today concerning a friend of mine that is also on this site. She is a wonderful and caring woman who has been harassed by other members of this site for the sole reason that she is rather flirty in her blog. If you know her, she maintains a very sensual and fun persona, but in person is caring and sensitive.

Seems that someone online decided to create a couples profile and he represented himself as a couple. She decided to have a drink with them. Turns out only he showed and all she did have was a drink and nothing else happened. After all, he was not what as represented.

Anyway, he went online afterward and posted all about how they had a very kinky experience. From my personal knowledge of her, I know that it was all a bunch of bullshit. He described things she would never do and it hurt her. To top it all off, she was receiving harassing emails from him and another guy. She is very upset about all this, so much so that she turned off her profile.

Even after turning off her profile, she still received harassing emails. Blocking did not seem to help, and now she is very scared to even come online at all. She wrote to AdultFriendFinder support for help, but since she is not a paying member they blew her off as unimportant. This is very disturbing.

All I can say is shame on all those people that are harassing, mocking, ridiculing, stalking, or in any sense disturbing other people online. This is meant as a safe community that allows people to meet and enjoy relationships in a safe manner. It requires trust from us all, and courage for those that do step beyond the cyber realm and actually do meet in real life.

In a real legal sense, I have a feeling that there is actually legal action she may be able to take with the advent of the “Cyber Stalking” laws. She has taken action and attempted to get AdultFriendFinder involved to avoid the situation. She has done her due diligence and if it continues, I would counsel her to take legal steps to insure her well being and safety.

Stop being animals people, grow up and learn to be civil with those online and those you meet. It would be a real shame if a few morons poison this online community for the rest of us, but that is where it is heading. With the revelation that a murderer used AdultFriendFinder just before committing a murder, the increase of child stalking online, and other negative press, don’t be surprised if there is legislation proposed to limit these communities.

Sad, some of you assholes should just drop dead.

You are a good kind person to stand up for her like that. It sucks when bad people get away with screwing over someone nice, and unfortunately it happens way too often.

She's lucky to have a friend like you who's not afraid to take a stand.
