I was reading an article recently about internet stalking and it got me wondering about how specific "stalking" is. It made me remember an incident, or a series of incidents that occured to me around this time last year with a girl I met online back in Sydney.

The girl I met, we shall call her B, went to my school, but was a grade below me so I didnt know her. We met in a chat room and began talking on msn and after a fair bit of chatting we realised we were both after a fuck buddy. At first it started out well, we would just call each other when we were horny, got what we needed and that was it, typical fuck buddy situation without emotion. Unfortunately good things dont always last.

She told me she really liked me, and I explained to her nothing more would happen as I knew I was moving to Tasmania and didnt want to start a relationship, she said that was fine and we continued. She knew where I worked, and this is where it started getting peculiar. She would come to my work at nights when I wasnt working, and ask the other bar staff if I was working.

While I was working I kept my mobile phone in my locker, and two or three times when I went on my break, got to my locker, as I opened it, I got a message, from B, saying something like "going on a break soon?" or "must be about time for a break". Also several times when I knocked off work I would get a call or a message about 5 mins after clocking off. It wasnt exactly scary, but more creepy, because I didnt know if she was at my work or if it was just coincedence. Also I had no idea what she was telling the other staff at my work.

Thankfully when I moved to Tassie the relationship ended completely and we no longer talk, but I am curious as to wether or not she was stalking me or if it was all just a coincedence. Has this happened to anyone else before? Should I have been afraid? Who knows really, but looking back on it, it makes me realise that not everyone out there can be trusted, and I urge to people, dont tell people where you work straight away, even after a week or two, just tell them the industry and your job description, but dont tell them the name of your company, because you never know what could happen.

That is pretty freaky, I imagine for a man it would be ok, you could handle a female stalker, but if I had a stalker I would be so scared, who knows what they can do.

Well thats the thing, I wasnt scared, but I just thought like "what is this girl capable of?" I think its risky business for everyone, and I suggest if you get someone like this, just cut all ties, dont try and keep things the way you want them.
