9/11 is here again.
A number of bloggers are requesting that we show our respect with a day of silence on Monday 11th September.
No posts or comments on that day.
Perhaps you would like to join this particular expression of respect and sorrow.
Please post this on your blog if you support it.

As human beings we, naturally, respect your right to commemerate the day in your own way, we are not trying in any way to coerce you into it.

Thank you

Who are these various people who are requesting this gesture, Fun? I have not heard of this...

Personally,to give out our spoken solidarity seems to be a more proactive gesture to me. A blanket day of silence?

I dunno...

The request was originally posted on bot [blog fotogod] and [blog breathlessbimbo].

I respect your view babe and agree, to a large degree, I have personally decided to show my respect by being silent for a day on the blogs.

My own thought is that I can (and do) rant about this type of event most days and a day of silence for me is the best way.

I agree it is not for everyone and perhaps the pst is not worded as well as it could be. I will consider it and adjust.

I think it is a good idea however many people who where affected by this event may wish to write about it in a way that makes others think. I plan to write that day because K's uncle was killed at the Penatgon he was the only person on her father's side of the family that acknowledged her so I will be writing a tribute to him.

funintheday2006 replies on 9/9/2006 3:15 am:
I think that is an excellent tribute babe, I really do.

I think it's a wonderful idea.. but lets face it.. every anniversary of this tragedy still effects some like it happened yesterday.. and yes the fear and the feeling a bit anxious of what next..what else can happen..We may need to use the blogs as an escape for mourning.

I know for myself.. If the moods strikes and I want to share on sept 11th it will be my feelings about the did disrespect to our hero's just a reminder to the survivors.. to keep going..and lets not for get we are American's filled with grace and love...

I will pimp the post..

Some will be silent and others won't - let us all remember to respect whatever choice that indivivual makes

Next best thing to perfect

Exactly mate, there is no one way, every way is valid, however the individual chooses.

Sorry Fun. I already screwed that all up. ~ sigh ~ I'm must be a terrible patriot, I suppose.

For anyone interested, I just watched a multi-hour CNN special on Bin Laden. It was pretty good. Catch it if you can. I'm sure it will replay more than once.

My respects to all those affected by the tragic events of 9/11. The greatest respect we can deliver is to NEVER FORGET. Many people lost their lives selflessly on that day; many did so innocently. The day will pass, but it's in our memories that they live.

funintheday2006 replies on 9/11/2006 10:36 pm:
You are correct, if only we can all learn the lessons from that day too. That really would be respect and rememberance.

its something i won't forget, but i won't be silent,at the time i was,but no terrorist or person will ever silence me.

Mourning death i don't agree with,a clebration of life know matter how short,or how tragic should be celebrated, how do we remember through tears when in our hearts there will always be there laughter and joy.

Silence only lets the other side win.

i'm here to stay

I recall this artistic protest once in college. These three girls had somehow gotten into the dining halls before they opened and laid out on stretchers right in the middle of the floor where it would be hard for traffic to get arond them. One was attached to an oxygen tank, another to an IV, and all of them had bandages all over them. None of them would move or open their eyes. They were silent.

I heard from people who knew them that the protest was important to them. They got in trouble for it, but it didn't matter - they cared about the message they were trying to send. Only, to this day I have no idea what the message was. I couldn't ask them; they wouldn't speak.

Silence is not always the best teacher. I have every ounce of compassion for those who were affected by 9/11. I spent that night huddled together with some of my closest friends, crying. I still think about it often. But I'm also still furious about our nations reaction. I wonder if there's not too much left to say for silence.

funintheday2006 replies on 9/11/2006 10:40 pm:
Excellent analagy and I agree, there is so much more to say. The voice of the people made quiet for political gain. sucks.

Dammit man! I just realized that today isn't the's tomorrow! I am SUCH a scatterbrain, sometimes. I told you I'd make an awful patriot.

funintheday2006 replies on 9/11/2006 10:41 pm:
You have respect, thats the main thing. How is a patriot defined? Someone who loves his country and people or someone who follows the politicians agenda. I know which I choose.

fuck sept 11--i am tired of hearing about it--and the pieces of shit that died in it and for it ever after---if the united states of isreal?--would get some real leadership---bin laden would have been vaporized on the 12th--end of story---wish i had been in charge----america has had it--china will eat us for breakfast in a few more year---every person in" public service"--the government-(read greedy self serving leeches on the corpse of what once was a great people)--needs to be vaporized along with all religious fanatics--this is the 21st century--religion of all types are archaic and self serving---why else are all religious leaders millionaires---the public is nothing more than drones to be taxed and sent off to play wealthy old mens war games

If only there were more reasonable people in the world like you extremism would be a thing of the past.

I am sorry that I did not see your post before Sept 11. I would have not blogged for the day, but I did.

I pay my respects almost on a daily basis. My husband is a volunteer firefighter and lost many friends that day. I think all the time about what the families went through losing the people that they love.

Thank you for posting this!

funintheday2006 replies on 9/12/2006 8:53 am:
Not a problem, we all commemerate our own way and I would imagine that your husband and you do so more regularly than most. Being on the front line must be a scary experience as well as a great sense of satisfaction. Thank you for commenting.
