Second Chances: Blog Version 2.0

After careful consideration of the matter, I have decided to attempt another blog on this site.

DT has asked me to consider returning. I have not discussed it with Traveling yet, but I do not expect he will be opposed to the idea of having me back on here. As long as the blog does not create problems in my personal life, I will continue.

I have also read the comments many of you left in various blogs, and I know many of you do not want me to leave. The truth is that I miss many of you already, and I have only been offline a few days.

So I begin anew. I could probably have my old blog re-instated. I have the connections to accomplish the task, but I don’t want to. My old blog was fractured and mutated. I had lost my vision and purpose in the old one. I do not miss it, and I welcome the chance to start over again with a fresh perspective.

I am not on The List anymore, but who cares? It was never about popularity for me anyway. I know everyone who was ever on the Damn List has said that at some point, and I don’t really care if you believe me or not, because it’s true whether you think it is or not. If I cared about my place on The List, I would have never deleted my old blog, or I would make an effort to get it back.

I do not care about the popularity that comes with being on The List, but I do enjoy being accessible and widely read. I derive my pleasure from reading comments from many different people, getting the different viewpoints, opinions, advice, and knowledge that all of you offer. I relish the banter back and forth in the comments. These are the things that miss the most and are the primary reasons I am attempting a second blog.

Since I am not on The List, and since I am in a brand new blog that is not on anyone’s watched list, I could really use your help. I’ll visit as many of my friends and supporters as I can, but my time is extremely limited. If you enjoy my blog, please help me spread the word that I have returned.

This new blog will be a little bit different from my old one. First and foremost, I seriously doubt I will be posting anymore fiction, poetry, or erotica on here, because I do not want to risk being plagiarized, and I do not want copyright issues arising with AdultFriendFinder. I have to consider these things because I fully intend to have my work published in the near future; therefore I must be cautious, due in large part to paragraph 5, article C of the AdultFriendFinder Terms of Use.

What will I post? I will continue to post humorous articles when I see something in life that I think is funny. I will continue to ask you questions to see how you feel or think about various things. I will post rants when I run into something that angers me. I will post self inflections and insights I have about myself and the world around me. I may repost some of the funny things I wrote in the first blog, but I am not so sure about that yet…With any luck, I’ll manage to write something that makes you want to keep coming back for more.

I also will not be as active as I once was. I mentioned publication earlier. I have five different books in various stages of completion, and none of them were getting any of my attention due to the time I spent blogging. This must change, because I have to know if I really do have what it takes to get my name on a book and to get that book on the bookstore shelves. I have a lot I want to tell the world, and I think the world will listen, if I can just get the words out there.

I have imposed a strict time limit on myself where blogging is concerned. I will not be able to visit all of you in your blogs all the time. I will be doing good to have time to post in mine and reply to your comments. I just want to ensure everyone understands that I am not being a hermit out of some misguided egotistic idea that you should come to me since I am so great and wonderful. That is not the case at all. I simply do not have time to skip through Blogland like I used to. I hope you will come visit me here, but if you cannot, I understand that you have obligations and time restraints just like I do. That is the way of the world, but I am not disheartened, because Blogland is a small place, and I know we will run into each other eventually.

Thank you for your continued support and time. I appreciate both more than I know how to say.

Well, welcome back I guess. I understand what you are saying as I am kinda in the same boat here. Stop by every time you get a chance, and I'll do the same. Later.

PS: It's kinda nice being on the bottom and rather obscure. Only those truely interested will frequent you and give you honest feedback. You kinda lose the 'groupies'. lol

Well, well, well! There HE is! I am soooooo glad you are back! And to show you just how glad you are back I'm going to add you to my watched list.

Why is this so impressive? You think I have tons of people on my watched list? Maybe, maybe not. The thing that makes it impressive is the fact that I HATE the number 666. If I am at the store and something comes up to $6.66, I will literally add something to my order to make it a different amount!

And here your blog is NAMED with that number in it!

So THERE! That should show you how much I enjoy you AND your blogs!

*sticks tongue out* LOL!

Love you five and glad you are back!!!!!! Now get on with the funny business! I want to laugh damn it! LOL!

    Welcome Back!!!!
    Could you email that lasagna recipe to me....please. LOL
5'r...I hope you don't mind my steppin in on this one...since I already had it and...I just sorta wanted to in my own way say W E L C O M E B A C K !!!

~~ it is.. and I will also email it to you just in case....

I cook the sauce from scratch.

I start with fresh tomatoes, a combination of romas and super-tasties, if I can find them. I go about half and half with the two kinds. It usually takes about a pound and a half of each, sometimes two pounds of each. I dice them by hand (I like to use knives. I never use a food processor.) I throw them into the sauce pan over medium-high heat and let them start cooking down.

While the tomatoes are cooking, I work up the meat. I use veal if I can find it, but I usually have to settle for sirloin. I dice it and mix it with mildly spicy Italian sausage and brown it in a separate skillet with olive oil over low heat. I season it with a dash of fresh ground black pepper and a dash of Creole seasoning.

While all of that cooks, I dice 8 ounces of mushrooms (white or portabella, or a combination, doesn't really matter,) one medium sweet onion, one large green bell pepper, and 4 or 5 cloves of fresh garlic. I usually have to take the meat off the heat before I am finished with the dicing. I don't let it get too done.

Once I have it all chopped, I toss all of the veggies and meat in with the tomatoes. (Drain most of the oil and fat off the meat first.) I add in more fresh pepper, more Creole seasoning, and a few teaspoons of Italian seasoning. Depending on how spicy it smells, I may add a dash of cayenne pepper. I let it simmer for 10-15 minutes and then stir in some red wine. I prefer Chilean reds, usually a chianti or a merlot, and I can't say how much exactly, but I start with a full cup and go from there. I add it until the color and smell suits me. It has to be a uniform burgundy color.

I let it simmer and thicken for another ten minutes or so and then start the water for the noodles.

If the sauce is not thickening to suit me by the time the water boils, I add in some tomato paste to help it along. If it is too sweet, I add a few drops of lemon juice. The sweetness is often a problem when fresh tomatoes are used.

Once the noodles are done, I use olive oil to grease up my lasagna dish, usually a 9x13 pyrex. I put down a layer of noodles, and then I use a knife to spread ricotta cheese across the noodles. It is easier if the cheese is room temperature and the noodles are patted dry before they are put in the pan. I spread it with a knife because I don't like the ricotta clumped. I like a thin, even layer. The sauce goes next, then a layer of shredded cheese. I like to get the bags of Italian blend, the ones that have mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, and asiago cheeses all shredded and mixed together. Then I lay done more noodles and repeat until the pan is full, ending with sauce and a cap of cheese.

I bake it at 375 degrees for 45-60 minutes (until the cheese is dark on top.) While it is baking, I make a salad if we are having one (not much of a salad man, myself,) and I get the garlic bread ready for the oven and set the table. When the lasagna is done, I take it out, put in the garlic toast, open a new bottle of wine, and serve the salad. The lasagna will have had time to cool and set up when the toast is done, and then it is time to FEAST!

~~~ Just me, poppin to say HI! ~~
Honni, I am glad to see you here, my friend. If you have time, please send me a note. You email address is on the hard drive of my computer ‒ the one that is in storage 700 miles away in Virginia!
DT, I love your kisses, baby.
Synn, thank you for stopping by. I have not seen you in awhile!
Jez, if it will help convince you to return after you get settled into your new home, I could probably write some more erotica…
Papy, thanks for the vote of support, luv. I will be kind from now on. Being hateful is such hard work.
Plow, I’ve never been anything but a common man, a good ol’ country boy. If my readers want to put me back on the list eventually, I will go, but for now, I am enjoying the time out of the spot light. It is easier to breathe.
Sweet Jess, Thank you for battling your aversion to that number for my sake. I changed the title of my blog, just for you, to show you how much I appreciate you. I will be changing it back to 666 eventually, because I think 667 is silly, but I will leave it for now.
Karma, It’s good to be back. *Hugs you back*
anchcpl4fun, I certainly will share those books! We’ll have to work out something, maybe a party of some sort.
Sil, you found a gold heart laying around in my blog? I wonder whose it could be? I reckon if they wanted it, they’d have claimed it by now. Let’s melt the sucker down and sell it! I’ll split it with you, 50/50!
Dano, I love you too, dude.
Spin, glad to be back. Slide beat me to the recipe.
Slide, thank you very, very, much. I was going to have to type it all out again. Thank goodness for you!
Ana, I have gone through so many emails lately that I don’t know which one is which anymore. I didn’t get any message from you though.
Barbie, you’ll have to ask DT about that licking thing you got goin on. You’ll probably have to give her a couple of those margarita you keep teasing us with, and I want to be able to watch. That’s all I ask.
DT, you know I don’t drink coffee. All things being equal, I don’t use caffeine at all.
Redlips, thanks for the welcome, sweet heart. I am so glad to be back.
Here would be where I discretely insert my first viewing of the controversial Carlos show. The first time he pulled "the pose", I chuckled in horror and thought "Oh man, is he gonna get roasted by the politically correct crowd."
I got his intent, and he was quite correct that the most mentally challenged people we'll ever know are right next door, or all too often are in our own families, or holding public office. And most people accept them as "normal". (Which ought to have us redefining all kinds of things.) For those people, the handicap was not bestowed upon them at birth or through some accident, these people actually had to work at attaining the label.
Easier to say when all the tempers have calmed. But when I read your doomsday post I cringed just like I did when I watched Carlos. "Oh man, is he gonna catch shit for this."
Now, how about some Pat Robertson jokes to get things rolling again?
