It's getting to be that time of year again. Thanksgiving is over, and Christmas is right around the corner. Soon, a New Year will be upon us. It is a time of reckoning for many of us, as we look back into what was, what could have been, and what could still yet be. There are a great many good things that come with the holidays, and some that aren't so good.

Each of us handle the challenges life throws us in different ways. We operate either one way or in a combination of ways to face the challenges. Some tackle them full-force head-on, mashing them into submission. Some dance around the edges, wearing it down, before getting past it or overcoming it. Others still will run and hide and hope it goes away. We do whatever works for us, and whatever we are most comfortable with, and either succeed or live with the results.

This past year has not been all good. There were times when I worked hard, and accomplished little, often countered by those times when things just fell into place, and got a lot done. I've tried my best at doing things, at making things better for those concerned, and was not always successful. Add in my tendencies to become melancholy and/or otherwise depressed, and things can go into vapor lock.. which they have on several occasions. I lose track of time and friends, neither of which I can afford to lose. When they do go south like that, it is all I can do to pull it out of the crash-dive, leaving me even more exhausted than normal. And, unfortunately, there were those who were trampled upon in the stampede of trying to do too much too often for too many people or too many projects to get things to work out in the first place. To those who were lost in the shuffle, I will try to apologize in whatever way I can figure will be most meaningful.

In the meantime, I can only promise to make things better, a little better organized, a little better timed, a little better fun. Hang in there, Folks.. I'm doing the best I can.

Thus are the thoughts for the day.
