Dating shows vs. Me

I am sure of very few things in life, but one of them is that I would fail miserably if I was ever on a dating show such as "Blind Date" or "The 5th Wheel." One of the reasons is that I've got no "game" to speak of. I don't think I've ever interacted with a woman with the sole intention of getting her in bed. Consequently, I don't think I'd be very good at it if I was forced to try. In fact, the way most of the guys act on these shows is quite nauseating to me, and I don't think I could live with myself if I acted the same.

The other reason for my certain failure is that the women are more than a little repulsive themselves, and I probably wouldn't hesitate to let them know. To be sure, I can't stand to watch these shows for more than about 30 seconds at a time, but as I was channel surfing the other day, I actually heard a girl say something to the effect of "I've got a hard body, but the rest of me is EASY! Whoo!" I felt my lunch starting to come up. And, of course, I'll never forget the one I heard several years ago: "If we were all desserts, the other girls would be Jell-o and I would be cream brulee." There are some of you who don't know why that's funny and the rest of us are laughing at you.

Is it just me, or are these shows ruining society? I know its probably more of a symptom or indicator of what's going wrong, but they certainly aren't helping.

Person1: "You just spent a half hour on national tv looking like a dumb, drunken slut who has no morals, values or common sense!"
Person2: "I know! I was on TV!!!"
Person1: "Yeah! Where do I sign up!"

It's something I can't quite figure out that while people view Paris Hilton with contempt, pity and even hatred, they still want to be just like her.

Me on a dating show:

Girl: "I love dancing with guys because that shows me how good he can fuck! And there are a lot of guys who dance really great!"
Me: /vomits/ "Sorry, did that get on your dress? No, I see you were able to remove it quickly enough... Can I get you a towel to help you clean up?"
NextGuyInLine: "I'll lick that off if you'll do me."

Am I alone in my dislike of these shows and the humanoids that populate them? Am I the only one left with standards?!

I definitely agree that these shows perpetrate a false ideal for anyone who watches them. People end up watching and shaking their heads, saying "There's no way that's REAL. NOBODY's that stupid. Are they??" And yet, there seems to be no end of wanna be's to choose from. Why anyone on earth would be willing to offer themselves up as fodder for ridicule, to have their most obvious flaws and shortcomings made a national (and international) joke, is beyond me.

But then, I aspire to be on Big Brother, so what the fuck am I talking about?

Ha! Maybe, then, its not the shows at all, just the people on them. Maybe us decent people of the world should band together, infiltrate all the "reality" shows and get some morality, intelligence and normalcy on the air. Eh, maybe not.
