A Moment in Time

There was a moment in time ‒ distinct yet blurred ‒ when it all changed. Much like the moment that night turns to morning, or when the last drop of rain falls from the sky. Like the moment hunger is satiated, or when thirst is quenched. It happened. It owned a specific moment in time.

Her eyes turned to meet mine as they had done a thousand times prior as she acknowledged a greeting, appreciated a joke, or laughed at my folly. Her eyes that had born witness to my moods, my complexities and simplicities. My silences and my verbosity. My genius and my bewilderment. She had seen it all, every face I was capable of adorning. As I had seen her. All of her responses. Every angle, every variation of every frown, every smile and every rumination. No surprises remained for or from either.

None.

Except one.

We had seen the stars before. The effervescence of the full moon before. The boundless eternity of the summer sky at night before. We had heard silence before. Isolation before. The utter lack of humanity’s prying eyes before. We had owned time and space before.

But never together. Not on a night such as that. A night when every possible ingredient was blended so finely together. When every sound, touch, taste and smell folded into one another to create the electrical magic of perfect timing. Of understanding. Of unbridled wantonness. Of passion. Nothing less. Nothing more exists.

It was in that moment that I looked up while lying on the moistened ground only to find her eyes shimmering brighter than the thousand-thousand stars in the eternal sky above me. What they saw I can not say. What I saw I can not explain. But it was in that moment that everything changed. The evolution of a universe within the confines of her emerald eyes. Eyes that owned that moment in time.

It was never intended, nor was it meant to be. Unless it was. But such thoughts were useless then as they are now. Thinking was not required, nor possible. Not on that night. Not under that sky. Not as my hand ran through her thick, undulating hair. Not as I gently pulled her closer to me. Her eyes closer to me. Her lips closer to me……

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

Something told me to come by here tonight, now I know why. Good work, jj. Later

kpb

PS: If that feeling don't go away on its own, try a shot of castor oil and terpentine. That malady has been known to cause men to break out in minivans, appliance stores, pediatricians offices and church. Nip it, son, nip it in the bud!!!

Not to worry, kpb. Shortly after, I rammed my head repeated into a nearby brick wall. Everything returned to normalcy afterward!

This is what drew me to you.
The depth of an inner soul,
much like mine ...
lost, but found ...
wondering, yet knowledgeable.

This is how I knew you.
My heart felt your warmth,
tears, flowed joyfully ...
glistening in the light ...
before your lips touched mine.
(c)Maggie

Beautifully spoken.
Warm huggies 2ya hun
