When music makes you close your eyes.

Hi there, Sorry - this is long!

Music has always played such a large role in my life. It so often provides a platform for me to externalise thoughts and emotions that would be impossible to express with my lamentable use of language.

At various times a certain song will always surprise me with its ability to epitomize a moment in time or remain inexorably linked with a very specific emotion, and that, each time I hear the song, allows me to relive the entire event again.

Some artists too are better at providing those songs than others and names such as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan spring to mind. More recently, however, The Frames, have etched so many mindblowingly insightful creations that encompass thouhts and experiences so well.

With songs like What Happens When the Heart Just Stops, Fake and the chimerical Revelate - that cut straight to a very raw point that is entangled with and hammered home by seraphic melodies that force you to close your eyes and smile blissfully as visions and reveries spin bye - all the time thinking - My God! Were they there when I felt like this?

So this is question - is there a song or group that does this for you?

So what happens when the heart just stops
Stops caring for anyone
The hollow in your chest dries up
And you stop believing

So what happens when the heart gives up
But the body goes on living
The blood crawls to a slow and stops
And flows away

Well we got no-one to meet
No love we would beseech
We only have ourselves to blame for everything
The was no answer in the dust
And I'm missing you so much
And now you're sleeping
And I'm leaving

Empty-handed waiting
Time it will subside and we'll agree
It was a given
Well there was no standard we could set
And the world it does regret
To have to leave you in this state of bereavement

You see I'm feeling everything
Nothing gets by

There is a hollow in my chest
The time I won't forget
There is no comfort in the eyes
They put us always to the test
I can't prepare myself for that
But I work it out in time
There is a love that flows between us
Ever-changing everyday
I worked myself up to a crawl
But I'm not fearing it at all
We have no reason left to stay
And that's why we're leaving
And there was no answer in the dust
And the one I feared to trust
There is a lie that drags us
Beating and pulling into disappointment

I'm disappointed
I'm disappointed
I'm disappointed

It's so late, till you're gone

I'm surprised you haven't gotten more response on this. If you have read my profile, you know that I am a huge lover of music. I really don't think I could go through without it.

Sometimes it brings back painful memories of a lost love or a dear friend or loved on that's passed on.

Sometimes it fills my heart with incredible joy and I can't help but sing along and smile.

Isn't it amazing that when we are feeling down we turn to music. I myself sometimes prefer to listen to a song that enduces my pain in order for me to be able to release it completely. Other times I search for a happier tune to lighten my mood.

As far as a song that means something to me. It's probably not one that many have heard of. The group is Evergrey and the song is "For Every Tear that Falls" It is a beautiful song. I tend to listen to the words of songs and try to find a meaning behind them. If you have a chance to listen to this song, I would be interested in what your opinion is of the meaning it holds. If you can't find it, I would be happy to email it to you.

Sorry this is so long. Music is just one of my favorite subjects

take care
