I am constantly amazed and embarrassed at some of the members on here that claim to be a member of my gender. Truly amazing!

Be grateful that these people haven't discovered spell checkers and grammer checkers or you might not find out about them until you meet them somewhere in public!!

How poetic & beautiful.

Such a way with words.

I bet you cant wait for the next message. Are you checking your in box every 10 minutes so you can be enthralled with this wonderful prose.

I would be.

Yeah right!!

Its a sad sorry state of affairs when basic grammar & spelling cannot be used when trying to impress. I bet he has a question in the Ad lines asking why no-one mails him back.

In defense of your letter writer, there are a few words that are spelled correctly. Beyond this, the writer does make his intentions known -- does he not?

joefoy :

Well, as an adult I TRY to make my writing as clear as I can. His intentions are as honorable as the next person's and I have no beef with those. I do, however have a certain dislike for grown-up people who have never learned their native language.

At the appearance of sounding didactic, you should have a comma after the word "however." Also, since your reference is to one person -- the offending individual in quesion -- as opposed to people in general, you should not use the plural "their" but "his/her," as awkward as this oftentimes sounds.

Just trying to help.

Thank you, Professor Joefoy.....futher: I don't recall the double -- in my style book, nor the word oftentimes.

I think the mistakes and wrong usages in the example go far beyond simple wrong choices.

Thank you for your lessons.
