Saved by the RingTone

Was in my car on the way to work last week, and this news report came on. It cracked my shit up. So there is a new service available for cell phones. It's test run was in New York city.

Let's say that you are out on a date and the other person turns out to be super Uber lame!!! Well, simply slide your phone underneath the table, and type in a 3 digit code provided by the phone service.

A little while later, they will call your phone. The operater on the other end will have a script to read, ie "your aunt died", "dad's in the hospital" "the dog just died" ect...

You put on your best acting skills and roll through the dialog! Then have to leave and cut your date short due to the emergency. In one month, there were over 10,000 of these calls made. A lot of bad blind dates out there I suppose.

I had one blind date myself that was awful!!! Long story short, I ended up walking home 5 hours from a random house drunk as shit. Got in the door at 7am. And that was when I decided NEVER to accept another blind date again! Ever!!!

Have you ever had any horrific blind dates?

How about a regular date that was just plain horrid?

Ill tell you mine if you tell me yours

The Dude.

Have you ever heard of the Rejection Hotline?
A friend of my ex had it given to him at a club once. It's a number (there are a bunch so that you can pick the one with the appropriate area code) that you can give out if someone is pushing you for your number and you don't want them to have your real one. You call it and get a smart-ass recording that mocks you because you were given the rejection number. It's hilarious.

Yes, actually a friend of mine told me about it and gave me the number to call. It was hilarious!!

That's so funny curious mentioned that! I gave that out like it was gold one summer, I dunno all the creepies were out and about in Ctown.

My worst blind date? A guy who used the "You know your a Redneck if..." jokes, with personal anecdotes! He was someone I met off of this site, and his picture was so far off it was unreal! I didn't even recognize him! I had my friend Nika call and say she got locked out of her car and told him I had to go to my apt. and get the extra set of keys I had for her car. (Ummm, that was a bald-faced lie!) He was trying to be nice and volunteered to call AAA an I almost yelled at him just to drop me off and leave me alone. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. There was one good thing about him... his brand-new Chevy Silverado made me want to cream myself.

dasher121 replies on 4/24/2006 10:08 am:
Hahahahahaha talk about persistance at the wrong time!!!!! And the redneck joke thing with his own added shit??? That is the definition of Uber Lame!

Never had a bad blind date. Of course, I've only had one and that turned out ok, thankfully!

But I would so use that number if I had to, lol.

Worst blind date: An AdultFriendFinder meeting where she had lied about herself. The pictures were of her. . . 100 pounds and 5 years ago. Did she think I wouldn't notice?

Second worst date, girlfriend who accused me of cheating on her while I was on top of her having sex with her.

Never saw either of the again.

Wow thanks for sharing dude. That really sucks. I may have you beat though.

Yes but the 'graceful exit' is one of my best skills learned over many years of escaping various men even while naked beneath them just immediately prior to my exit. Ciao, baby!!!

Ah yes, I like to call that "The Great Escape"! hahaha, have pulled that one a few times myself

Not any really terrible but the one coffee date I did I'm glad that was all we planned 'cause it was easy to make up a reason to end the evening...we really weren't a good fit...not my type, don't think I was his usual either...and it really turned out for the best since as we walked out the door a nurse that I had worked with was on her way in; greeted me with a big hug, gorgeous blonde, a little on the sweet and dopey side so I don't really think she meant anything when she asked me how "Bob" was doing...

Now in truth he was another nurse we worked with...ok, he was a bit popular with the ladies and we had dated but I didn't think SHE had known that...(I think she had dated him too so maybe she did...hospitals are bad for rumours you think nobody knows about) date didn't ask and I wasn't inclined to explain...we had already decided to cut the evening short...but lord only knows what he thought!! I felt bad that he might have thought I was trying to see him on the down low but not bad enough to explain THAT, it was too easy of an out...(btw he didn't email me again after that, duh) oopsie

dasher121 replies on 4/24/2006 10:12 am:
Well I can def see how that could have been uncomforetable. And what are the chances??!! But I think you handled that the best you could.

um that was just my uncle

The Rejection Hotline has been around for years and is expanding. A friend of mine gave me the number, telling me it was hysterical a few years ago. On a day I had raging PMS. So, I thought it was a not-so-subtle hint.

But worst date ever? I have to pick? Oh, probably the one I talked about in I Got Dressed Up For This

dasher121 replies on 4/24/2006 10:13 am:
I will check yours out also, thank you! As bad as a blind date can be, they really do make for a great story hahaha.

I was gonna leave a comment here dude but I just got a message on my cellphone that my hamster broke his finger so I gotta go.
sorry dude after reading Daniels I totally forgot
what the hell I was going to say.. shaking head now!!!

Composes myself.
Ok, umm worst blind date would have to be when
this guy on the internet said he was just a bigger guy.
Myself thinking ok like a football player big. And he said
ya sorta like that.
After 3 months of talking back and forth, and yes I was
stupid and never seen a picture first. I traveled to
West Virgina and stepped off the bus to see this 400 pound
man that his cloths were ripping at the seams.
I dialed my phone and told my girlfriend to come get me now.

Never again will I visit a person without seeing a picture or
maybe a bonus, see them on cam first..

Worst blind date- I spent alomst the entire night trying to figure out why he looked familiar. He was about a foot shorter than me, spoke in hillbilly , ate popcorn by throwing it up in the air and trying to catch it with his mouth, and giggled uncontrollably at the fact his feet couldn't reach the seat in front of him. I actually burst out laughing and had to leave the theater tp compose myself when I figured out where I knew him from during the movie. I was on a blind date with Barney Rubble. Take off his shoes, put a brown toga on the lil dude and he'd be looking for Fred.

dasher121 replies on 4/24/2006 10:16 am:
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Besides Barney Rubble, the popcorn thing would have driven me nutts!!!

Worst blind date; Meeting a man that was supposed to be a woman that was posing as a guy @ the bar... Have you ever heard of 'Irrational Anger'? I learned about it in Anger Management, a class I had to take shortly after that blind date

dasher121 replies on 4/24/2006 10:17 am:
Wow I had to read that a few times to put it together. so let me get this straight: You met a female who told you she was posing as a dude. Then shows up an actual dude?

Thats pretty damn fucked up! Yeah, irrational anger sounds about right haha.

Oh, I almost forgot one.

How bout the time I met a gal from online (not AdultFriendFinder) who ended up having her lover (who she met online) killing her husband? I came to conclude, after I was interview by the police, that the coffee date was an interview to be the shooter.

Glad I didn't sleep with her.
