Going Native

I was out in town last week, and discovered that one of the bars I occasionally visit has been turned from a cheap Wetherspoons pub to a Native State. (Actually, for all I know, it might have been converted a year ago. It's not the kind of place I go for some quiet drinks, but it does stay open 'til 1, so I'm not normally in a position to tell.) Now, I do recognise the fact that - unless you're the England football team, who will remain crap forever - change is fairly inevitable. Indeed, change in itself doesn't bother me.
What does bother me is when a place has a makeover that seems to consist entirely of putting up some 'funky' new lighting, and pictures of a man bearing a worrying resemblance to Charles Manson, and then charges nearly double for the price of its drinks.

Now, I may not be an economist (Oh wait, I am.), but I'm guessing that maybe the reason the place was empty might have had something to do with the fact that they charge double what their competitors do?

In other news in the heady world of Dan Jones, I poked myself in the eye repeatedly when trying to fit my contact lenses and got rained on when I went to post a letter. So you can rest assured that however dull your life is at the moment, mine is far duller.
