Daddy Got Drunk

(while on pain killers)

One night I was at home watching Frasier or Cheers or some late night programming or other and Daddy stumbles in from an office supplies convention that his company had been invited to. He was barely carrying two shopping bags full of miscellaneous office supplies branded with various company names. He drops the bags in the living room and one of them spills all over the floor. My dear Daddy asks me to help him pick up the infernal mess. We (and by this I mean mostly me) pick up the mess and he leans on the wall, lights up a Marlboro and says in his not quite accent, “little girl………your father is DRUNK!”

Daddy goes to his room and changes into his PJ’s. I turn off the TV and I’m about to fall asleep. But there is a sound that won’t let me fall asleep. Daddy’s in the bathroom. The door is open. He’s groaning. On my way over to see if he’s OK, I hear it. That unique sound a drunken throat makes as the contents of the stomach are on their way out. Yep. He’s puking. When I get to the bathroom, Daddy is leaning against the toilet sweating. I get a washcloth with cold water and proceed to wipe his face. I flush the toilet. Luckily nothing had spilled outside of it.

Daddy falls to the floor. I am able to get him into a sitting position. At this point I’m worried because I have never seen him like this. Somehow, I manage to get him to bed with a tiny bit of help from him. He asks me to make him some soup. My stepmom rolls over and says, “Si estuviera enfermo yo lo atendía, pero asi borracho, yo lo dejo!”(if he were sick I’d help him, but not drunk.) I know it sounds harsh but you must understand. This is a woman who has been battling with an alcoholic son for about 15 years, so she’s not about to be dealing with ANYONE when they get that drunk.

I make Daddy some soup and I feed it to him. He then asks me to light a cigarette for him. I had to hold it to his lips for the first three or four puffs. He is now able to hold his cigarette. I stay by him until he finishes his cig, in case falls asleep and we didn't need him to burn down the house. He finishes and I put out the cig. He thanks me for helping him.

I find this extremely funny. Not because he mixed painkillers with liquor. Not because he’s puking. Not because he can’t feed himself or smoke his own cigarette. It’s funny because my dear Daddy, a grown man, cannot hold his liquor!

You have a twisted sense of humor, girlie. Mixing those pain killers with booze is potentially fatal. I would have been more worried that he was going to die.

MissAnn...I WAS worried woman! It was just funny after the fact because he was OK! Daddy isn't much of a drinker so I definitely was worried!

(What the fuck is this shit..?? *rolls eyes*)

As many friend as I've had mix painkillers or prescription drugs with booze ... I've started to realize not many can hold their liquor ... especially when it's being drunk in large quanities ..

Using a pitcher for a beer mug/glass anyone? ...or is that just done here?

spunky...the man hardly drinks. The painkillers he's been on forever but booze isn't his thing so when he DOES drink...OY!! rocks girl! As for daddy I think he may have had a bug as well, he'd never been that sick off of a small amount of drinks like that. I've seen him drink more and not get sick. As I said the painkillers are a staple.

MzHuny...It wasny fun at ALL. And thank YOU for taking the time to visit me

Dee...Thanks! I adore my Daddy but he can be plenty rough when it comes to criticism so this is nothing

Lucky you were there for him.
So many aren't that lucky.

kitchen & looking

You guys are missing the point of the story! Daddy is NOT an alcoholic. This wasn't a sad thing. Daddy did something immensely stupid that we can now laugh about because he's ok! This is a funny story OK??

poor thing reminds me of myself; the last time I got that drunk I only had 2 shots of goldenmeister although they were on an empty stomach; it's those not used to drinking that get drunk that quickly, it's a sign that your liver is processing really well I've heard

It's nice to have somebody that understands you puking over the toilet and loves you anyway

7/28/2006 8:10 am was no big deal! He's my Daddy that I think about it, that is one of the many reasons I'm glad my parents divorced when I was young.

looking...NP, I can see how people that don't know me would misinterpret that

corezon...I absolutely LOVE goldenmeister! But on an empty stomach? Were you temporarily insane? Or on drugs?? LOL! Seeing Daddy vulnerable wasn't easy but I'm glad he let me help him...hispanic capricorn men are stubborn fucks and they let their pride get in the way...
