I'm a dork....really.

I have lived in Northern California for almost 2 1/2 years and I have yet to actually feel an earthquake. Well, until tonight.

I was sitting in my desk chair and suddenly it started moving back and forth very slightly all on its own. It was so slight that I just bitched at the dog thinking he was underfoot. Then, I realized that he was running up and down the hall like a maniac--no where near my chair. I just thought to myself, "Hmmmm...that is strange."

Two minutes later, the there was a newsbreak on TV announcing a 4.4 magnitude earthquake in the north bay. Yeah...I'm a dork.

Neat! Reminds me of when I lived in L.A. after I left the Navy back in 1981. I was in an elevator when things started shaking, and there I was practically pissing my pants while the other passengers just kept on reading their morning papers, holding their coffee cups a little tighter, but acting as if it was no big deal. Turned out it to was something like a 4.5 or somewhere around there.

Nope not a dork - just sheltered - lol - I lived in Tornado Alley for 7 years and the closest we got to one was about 15 miles away (and at night so you couldn't see anything anyway) - then we moved back to the Rocky Mountains and within 48 hours of being there we saw one touch down and immediately go back up! I lived in the Rockies for 22 years and never saw a tornado. I probably wouldn't have a clue what an earthquake felt like either.

She would call for every darn one they reported and most were small and I never even felt em! Shes in NJ and panicked every time she saw that.......groan....mothers! lol
