Explosion in downtown San Francisco

For about an hour this morning a lot of people were really on edge in the financial district of San Francisco. There was an explosion in the Schwab building at Post and Kearny (about 5 blocks from where I work). Was it a bomb? Was anyone injured? Are they gonna shut down BART? (That's always the most important question!)

Turns out that it was a an electrical problem--a transformer blew. One woman was taken the hospital, but apparently her injuries were not critical. It did, however, take out the entire store front of the Ralph Lauren store. Haha!

Anyway, one of my friends was in the building when the explosion occurred. More precisely, he was in the bathroom when the explosion occurred. His description of feeling the building shake and then hearing the shrieks while he was...uh...busy was "classic"! It's really hard not to laugh although I know I shouldn't. Someone could have been really hurt or even killed.

I just hate the fact that we all have to live with so much fear. If some phucktard wants to walk into the building and blow it up, there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I just hope that I would be remembered fondly!

You would DEFINITELY be remembered fondly. However, I agree with the 'phucktard' comment. It sucks that we have to live this way. But friends, in my estimation, are the best protection. You have many friends. You are loved...

You know when things start exploding it reminds me of my youth growing up in Beserkly near the collage and I was attening Willard Jr.High school during the Peoples park disturbance and the 60's war protest's. B of A was a target for somerudness. In all very dusturbing and the kind of thing we all could do without.
