The Day Has Passed

Today is Sunday, August 14th. Thursday I had a slight case of the blues for a while. You see, the original plan for the 13th called for me being in the Tyler Greyhound terminal to catch a bus headed for Alabama just before midnight. I was hoping for a lot of things, but tseeing the woman in my life face-to-face was the important one for me. Since that was the official release dat for Thoghts of Dakness, Heart of Pain, it was going to be a special time to share one of my life's greatest achievements with someone I cared deeply for. Due to a lot of personal difficulties on both sides, we didn't get to see each other after all.
All is not really so bad. We had a chance to talk, to get closer than ever. Yesterday was the 13th, and we were in IM instead of each other's arms. But she posted to Frankengroup reminding everyone that the book was now official. That was sweet of her, I thought. And we are looking for another chance to meet soon. Now we know more about the true nature of our feelings, and a meeting will mean much more to us.
Sometimes things happen to us for a reason. She and I both believe that. I believe the events surrounding our broken plans have a greater context than romance alone. I believe sometimes better things can spring from disappointments if we only deal with them well and have patience. I wish we had been together for the release date. But it will be much better after seeing how we handle a minor crisis. Sometimes, by not accepting the rougher things that life throws in front of us, and dealing with them, we miss great opportunities.
Have you missed an opportunity lately?
