i should live in seattle!

because, once again, i can't fall asleep
i wonder who else is up this late (early?), sitting in front of their computers, as i obviously am, when i'd really love to be fast asleep - for some reason, my alarm clock doesn't seem to know that i'm still tired, so it still goes off at the usual time
i never quite got the ability to quiet my mind when it's bed time, so here i sit, writing a new post, wondering who else might be online now, knowing that you're out there, sleepless, tired, and writing to blogville friends . . .
i'm actually jealous of people who have the ability to get into bed and be asleep quickly, but good for you!
what's your secret for a good night's sleep? how long do you lie in bed, awake, before you get up and do something, whether it be reading, blogging, cleaning the house, or whatever?
wishing you all sweet dreans

Now of all the wonderful ideas you have had, rants you have run with, sharing you have done and lastly of all the titles of all the blogs you have written.... I confess, this is the very best one I have read!!!

Tylenol PM, sorta works, but leaves me groggy particularly if I don't sleep long enough.
Valerian Root also seems to gently help, but after a few days gives me a headache, sigh. And vivid dreams.
Chamomile though I've only tried the tea and am not sure how/if it helped
Passionflower, haven't tried as yet
Melatonin they say.
5-HTP supplement they also say.

Gotta love insomnia... though it's the day sleep thing that is the root of it for me.

Oh, if you do make it to seattle, let me know and we can find some alternative sleep therapies worth chatting about over dinner my friend.

I spent two years in the Seattle area ('68-'70) but, in the Army so, I never got to take advantage of the rainy weather the way most people do. I don't like drugs or alcohol so when I get insomnia, like I have now, I do whatever would be done in the day; all night restaurants, supermarkets, late night TV, and get some sleep when I am tired. I have to be up at 9AM so last night I just stayed up all night and got some sleep in the afternoon.

I can sleep like a log, unless I fall asleep on the sofa and wake up at about midnight. Then I can't sleep for a while. I don't let insomnia worry me. If I can't sleep tonight I will tomorrow. I try to avoid drugs and alcohol .... at most I'll take 1000 mg paracetamol .... nothing stronger. Then I'll blog until my eyelids are heavy.

warm xx
