I'm Back And... Better Than Ever??

And am I glad to be back.

So, how was it? Let's break it down, day-by-day:

Wednesday (August 30): the gang arrives at about 8 PM, and it's dinner at Stir Fry Cafe. Nothing major happens here, so let's skip on to...

Thursday (August 31): And Jesus Christ, it's RAINING. Ernesto came and decided to hit pretty hard. When we hit the road early that day, you could barely see 10 feet in front of you, and it stayed that way until we hit Virginia. We hit MD at 6:00 PM, and met up with the folks, and was treated to a grand dinner.

Friday (September 1): OK, now this is an important day, because I'm hitting the two radio stations that are in Hagerstown. My father provided the transportation, and with help from MapQuest, we hit our first radio station... and the manager wasn't there. So I dropped off the resume, and hit the other radio station, a small easy listening radio station (when Anne Murray's "Daydream Beliver" is playing, you KNOW it's easy listening) where the equipment was far more outdated than what I'm accustomed to at the PRS. At least the manager was there this time.

And not only was he there, but he proceeded to tell me about the state of radio. And it's not good. Basically, everything's moving to automation, and he feels that there is no more room for the classic "D.J." He wished me luck, and told me to brush up on the latest technology I left, feeling a bit depressed about my future.

And my father didn't really help. Now, I know he's looking out for my best interests, and what he said next wasn't meant to be harsh, but he's a straight shooter, so he pretty much told it like it was. "You realy need to explore other options. You're not going to cut it the way you are now for much longer. You talk about wanting a more serious relationship, but you need to get a job locked down first, because girls aren't interested in a guy who works in a fast food shithole."

Those words proceeded to haunt me & gnaw at me for the duration of the vacation.

Saturday (September 2): It's FOOTBALL TIME in MARYLAND! My brother hooked up two more small TVs in the living room along with the big plamsa TV already in there, and it's college football all day, whether Mom or his girlfriend liked it or not. He's a Florida guy, so he was waiting for the Florida-Southern Miss game, which wasn't until 6PM. So that means a LOT of alcohol consumption, so by the Florida game, he was good and ready. Florida won, but not without some struggle, and not without he getting in a fight with his girlfriend, because she got offered a ticket to the Florida-Tennessee game (a big deal to the fans of both teams), and didn't think of inviting him. Yeah, he got pissed off over that, and blew it out of proportion. I joked that he'll be 60 and single the way he was acting, and he responded with a slew of expletives.

Sunday (September 3): With that out of the way, we had to get ready for the big party we were hosting. Lots of cleaning, vaccuming, and preparations to be had. And at 5 PM, like clockwork, the first of close to 20 guests arrive. All of them employees with my parents. I knew a few of them (a couple of them attended my H.S. graduation), but mostly, I felt out of place. One of the guests was a tall, 6-foot woman who works for my mother, so we briefly talked.

After the party, with everyone sent home, and with the family around the coffee table, I was asked whether or not I would hook up with the woman, who's a devout Morman. Again, it was a joke that got me in trouble. "Only if she'd put out." All I got was cold stares and my grandma saying "You used to be a nice boy. Now look at you."

The lesson here, as always, is that I can't win. Ever.

Monday (September 4): I was due for a rough night of sleep, and I got it Sunday night/Monday morning with a solid hour of sleep, thanks to an inflatable mattress that kept deflating. Really, if I'm only going to get 1 hour sleep, it should be because I'm having fun with anyone from (but not limited to) PassionKisses4Me, sassybelle21, curiousinlorain7, ShayeDK, MamChelle, or any other various beautiful women from AdultFriendFinder or elsewhere.

Thankfully, I had a nice long nap in the afternoon while the family reminisced about the days when me and my brother were kids.

Tuesday (September 5): Back home we head, with more rain to be had, and my brother carrying a bunch of shit in the back of his truck. Sadly, none of it managed to be dry. At least my brand new DVD player didn't perish. So, after a trip to the grocery store (and spotting an ex-girlfriend of mine, which prompted some jokes from my brother, who remembered the "60 & single" comment I cracked earlier, and MAN did I get paid back there), they left for Atlanta, and now I'm finally back home.

So, how was the weekend? Well, fun, yes, but in a way, it was depressing. I still haven't shaken off the Friday comments, and the fact that they ring true makes it worse. I come home to a job where the bosses don't respect my work ethic, the PRS job that doesn't have any more hours they can give me, and a financial situation that's pathetic compared to the rest of my family.

Maybe I worry about this too much. I keep thinking that job is going to come sooner or later, but it hasn't happened yet, and I can't help but think that it may not ever. Then again, I visit Atlanta next week, so who knows...

I might do the Ramblings tonight, but more than likely, I'll do them tomorrow. One thing's for sure: it's good to be back here.

So... any hot ladies miss me?
