Is the Past a Factor That Decides Your Present?

Way back when Tillerbabe asked the blog community to put up a photo of their high school days. At that time I was burdened by a school assignment and work. As a result I allowed that day to pass without putting anything up regarding my past. However, I would like to rectify that with this post.

The image to the right...um as Wahine points out, the other right... was my graduating photo. I am quite proud of my past. I graduated with honours, both from the school I attended and from the province and I was also honoured by my peers.

The list of my achievements were: I was given a provincial award, nominated for valedictorian, nominated for athlete of the year, was the mvp of the rugby team, and prom king.

Out of all my achievements though, I am most proud of the comments that are left in my year book. Every year I open them up and read what people wrote about me. The writers of the pages call me friend, a poet, a participator, my nickname at the time, thanked me for massages and for being an encourager. Each time I look back at their words to me, I am inspired to continue in that tradition.

So yes, I really do believe that my past dictates my present. And I am thankful that in this community, blogland, that you are all inspiring me to great and wonderful things for the future. I hope you are inspired to greatness yourselves.

Great post! I have to say that I was only in the top 10% of everything I've done. I've never been "the best". You have, and should continue to strive for that.

Beewulf~
Always cautious of the quiet ones, I wonder sometimes how different I would be if I had not moved just before High School. Becoming one of the more "intriguing" people on campus made me a little bit more of an outgoing person than I was when surrounded by those who had known me all along ... I think that you have probably always been someone that others could gravitate towards. You have a pull that catches someone by the arms and seems to draw them to you. Your intelligence and wisdom seem far older than your years and yet you never act as though you are above any other before you. You are one of a kind, a true man among men and I'm glad to have gotten to you know you.
