Enduring the Fire

Of late I am recalling a story I once heard. The story is of a lady who read the following passage from a religious text that reads

"[The supernatural being] will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; ...[the supernatural being] will purify... [those the supernatural being loves] and refine them like gold and silver." (The supernatural being loves us all)

She really didn't understand this passage because it really didn't describe at which time the mineral would be removed from the fire. Therefore, she set out to a nearby silver refinery. There she was walked through the entire refinement process and finally stood as a workman described "Silver is refined when all the impurities are removed."

The woman didn't feel that this really answered the question of when the silver would be removed from the fire, and in frustration was about to turn and leave.

At this point the workman said, don't you want to know how I know the silver is ready to be removed?

She turned and said, yes that is exactly what I want to know.

Without turning to face her, the workman gently said as he stared into the fire, when I can see my reflection in the silver.

I recognize that this moment in my life I am going through some tough times as I work through projects for upcoming deadlines. And there are moments that I have to question what I am learning from the entire experience. The truth is I really don't understand what I will learn. I am just trusting in that supernatural being with the hope that there is something in me that the supernatural wants to refine or have me let go of.

I hope that whatever you, my reader, face will be endured with peace and the knowledge that it may make you better in the end. I also recognize that the waiting and enduring process is really uncomfortable.

My best wishes,
Steven

I love these types of stories... It gives me hope that this could be. However, I'm getting tired in the whole waiting process. I understand that I need to learn patience, however, when do you just say to hell w/ it??

Mercury is retrograde right now; A time of waiting, wondering, contemplating and re-thinking our past. Make no sudden moves, be still, accept waht is before you and all willl be fine! {=}

Dear Aasacropn, I hear that... when I just want to say to hell with it, I sometimes remember poems such as Thomas' "Rage against the dying of the Light." or Angelou's "Grandmothers". Such poems remind me that resilence to not give in is crucial.

Dear Tiller, Funny how Mecury is a fire diety, and sign.

Dear Sweet, those words are very meaningful. Thank you for the hugs and taking time to venture away from the company to say hi.

Dear Sassy, I hope that you get all the lovin you desire, and may the love be encouraging and supportive.
