Methyl Dehydration

Have you ever seen fire in zero gravity? It moves like a liquid seeping, oozing, folding in on itself. A living liquid fractal.

I come to awareness on a ray of light, tiny particles of energy struggling for space in a giant cloud of dust, the gritty grunting and growling of machinery howling away behind me. Something about how the dust danced around the light caught my attention, brought me back to Now. A rare moment of clarity.

I kneel, watching the dust dance and whirl as the nicotine stains my fingertips and the methyl hydrate/castor oil concoction spits at me coating my face and hands with that icey burning tingly oily film. The wind kicks up sucking every drop of moisture, seeking the smallest hint of vapor like some greedy sponge. Pulsating clouds of dust kicked up from somewhere deep in the Badlands, the Prairie, roll in under the wind like sandpaper. You can see them coming for miles. Time to hunker down. The Great Spirit coughs and wheezes.
