or successful people in my book....

"Winners have a deep-down feeling of their own worth. They know that, contrary to popular belief, this feeling of self-acceptance and deserving is not necessarily a legacy from wise and loving parents.

Winners are not outer-directed. Though they recognize the universally emotions of fear and anxiety, winners do not give in to these emotions."
~Brooks Going

"Winners are aware of their self-image. They believe they can do anything they set their minds to do. A winner is constantly adding knowledge through experience, insight, feedback, and judgement. As a result, not only to play from strength in the games of life, but avoid errors and correct weaknesses. Winners are honest with themselves."

These are from a paper I wrote 19 years ago when I was a competitive national athlete. Funny how it still is applicable today.

Douchan Gersi:
Victory always starts in the head. It's a state of mind. It then spreads with such radiance and such affirmations that destiny can do nothing but obey.

Barbie, as the father of a highly motivated, highly driven national team caliber soccer player, I cannot say how true those thoughts are. But having wise and loving parents adds even more to being a winner - it gives you someone to share winning with.

of course good parents make all the difference... but it can be done without.. sometimes we forget that when no one supports out inner dreams..we can go on anyway

Excellent post Bunz. Yes, the formula for success is the same now as it has always been and will always be. Somethings are constant.

It's not funny at all why it is still applicable.
Words of truth and wisdom will always be just that.
You were intelligent then and there's no reason why you would have diminished that ability.
Beauty, brains and a positive attitude...what's more to like?
