Ooh, Life is Bigger

You ever feel like life is the enormous toddler? You don't know WTF I'm talking about do you?

Yesterday I spent most of my time with my friend (that's all he is) Rocky and his niece and nephew. It was the niece's birthday, she's now 4. Nephew is 18 months old. We babysat yesterday evening so Mommy and Daddy could go out and have a good time with Mommy's sister and Mommy's Mommy.

You guys know what a confused, fucked up person I am in general. I can't figure out what life is telling me to do. They say you have to find your own path and I feel like I'm stumbling through the woods, in the dark with no flashlight. I don't anymore know what life is trying to tell me than I did what Rocky's nephew was saying last night.

He did finally say my name though, little kids all say my name weird, but he said it almost perfectly. Now if I could just get life to do that...

I'm not sure life is an enormous toddler - I think life is the real world and I'm the toddler, tripping over, walking into things and making silly mistakes!

There are lots of us who feel like that, Mac. Let's see.... You've got wonderful children, at least one good friend, a job that pays above the national average for all jobs, and your making your house payments.... That seems like a very good base from which to survey your options to me. The problem with finding a path is that it doesn't come from within.... It comes from what others tell us that we're doing right or doing wrong. Either we don't get enough feedback to make sense of our situation, or we're just not good at reading the signals. I'm sure you'll find your way soon enough.

"I can't figure out what life is telling me to do."

I think it is our job to tell life what to bring us in the way of friends, relationships, and experiences. The "messages" life brings us are a reflection of how clearly we are doing our "job" of focusing on that which we want.

The question then becomes not "What is life telling me," but "How do I know what I want?"

The answer is simple:
Just pick something, anything. If you don't like it, make a new choice.

You can choose a ready guide
In some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide
You still have made a choice

You can choose from phantom fears
And kindness that can kill
I will choose a path thats clear
I will choose free will

I don't know that Life has ever told me what to do. I've just spent most of my time dealing with whatever it's thrown at me. It's been an interesting journey so far...

There is still a chance for you as I have been stumbling around in my life for the past 64 years and I still havn't heard what it is trying to tell me.
Honestly I don't give a shit as it has been pretty good up to date, I think the next few years are all on the way down though.

Confused??? ...maybe that's why we get along

but then again if we all had the answers we wanted then what'd we do for fun? ... we'd know if it would be fun or not before we even did anything and that wouldn't be fun .... (somehow that seems really weird to think about )
