Watch What You Say

Last night was leg night again. And as much as I dread leg night, I was really happy that I forced myself to go. Leg day, by far, is the easiest day to skip b/c it can be a long workout, and well, it's not considered, by many, to be the glamorous muscle groups like the arms and chest.

While working on my leg extensions, I noticed this guy who was working with the squat rack. He loaded up a 45 as well as a 35 plate on both sides. I noticed that he was going only a quarter of an inch down on the lift. It was really none of my business, but I decided to see if this guy needed a spotter. So I asked him as such. He replied indicating he was fine. I noticed this guy didn't have large legs as all. I know that I am not at the point where I can lift that heavy yet, so I was intrigued about his experience. I asked him if anybody ever taught him how do perform the excercise, as he was not going low enough. He replied yes, but he doesn't have the ability to do a full squat. I, instead of waiting for his explanation, asked him what he thought about reducing the weight to possibly enable him to perform a correct rep. He then responded that he had been born paralyzed from the waste down and was doing the best that he could. What an ass! I can't believe how rude I was!! I really was just trying to help, but damn...

I guess this really teaches me another lesson. I should shut up long enough to listen to others!

Last night's routine felt better! I think I'm gaining my strength back pretty quickly. I am not supplementing w/ any product, with the exception of meal replacement shakes, so I know it's my body that is catching back up, and not a chemical to assist me. I feel great and have to really add more weight on leg day. I am sore, but it's the good kind. I think next time, however, I'm going to take a salt bath afterward.

Dont you just hate when you say something and then feel totally stupid! All the pain and work will be worth it, I gotta get my ass to the gym

You know aas, you really weren't such an ass. You were trying to be kind and did not know.
Please, no furthur posts about working out until my ribs are healed. In fact, you should stop and wait for me to get better. Thanks.

Congrats on the hard work. As for me I was a track runner in high school so all I ever worked were my legs. I was up to 3 reps of 700#'s. that hurt but it wouldn't build the muscle so I looked ODD with nuthin but legs.

3 reps of 700????? No freaking way! Legs only is almost as strange as upper body only. I like a nice 50 - 50 proportion.

You were indeed just trying to be HELPFUL!! True sometimes we need to just LISTEN... but your intentions were all GOOD! Besides... you were giving him GREAT advice!
