Tough Decisions

My home loan has been quite a struggle. I finally applied w/ the builder's preferred lender as a backup, in case my best friend's company couldn't actually do mine.

The preferred lender came back with wayyyy better rates than what my best friend could offer me. I had to break the news to her about this and I know she's not very happy. On one hand, she gained a lot of experience. On the other hand, she's not going to be able to beat the rates and therefore, not get paid.

I've been emailing with her (no phone time, nor am I going to the bar at nights) about this problem, and she said that I need to pick the phone up and actually talk to her. My response was that she has my number too, but that since she started her new job, I didn't want to bother her during the day. I know that she's more annoyed w/ my selling agent than me, but I know she's under a lot of stress herself w/ her own closing which is supposed to be on Thursday.

It was very tough for me to have to make this decision, but in the end, it's my monthly budget that is affected. I'm the only person paying my bills.

It is hard to do business with friends, and in the end you have to keep them separate. She will understand, and based on what you say, she would do the same thing if she was in your position. I know I would, but I'd hate it.

You have to pick the best deal/offer for you...she's your friend, she knows this too. It's difficult, but, it's the best way.

Business is business, especially when your siging the cheques. Ask her, 'What would you have done?' Obvious answer.
