War blog

What does everybody think of the Cindy Sheenan and crawford stuff. Actaully I was afraid to mention anything political in this blog. Scared of pro war people who have always seemed(to me) violent and vindicative to anyone who doesn't share their views. I think that the Iraqi constitution is a step back for the people(esp. the women) of Iraq. Before they could wear western clothes and hold almost any job they wanted. Now it seems like the constitution takes some rights away. As a women I think, actually I know, this is wrong. What did they do to us again? Why is it okay to overthrow other countries governments? Why do we as Patriotic americans think that Iraqi people don't love their country like we do ours? Insurgent means someone who doesn't want a foreign power controlling their country. If the virgin islands invaded Florida I would be one of the first to fight for my country. We don't need someone coming here to make us into whatever image they feel is best. It's not their business. I would be the first to point out that America isn't perfect, far from it. But I love the people who live here. My friends and family. The people I work with, crazy Houston drivers, sports fans doctors, lawyers, people. Why does God love this part of thw world better than that part of the world? Are they less worthy than us? Aren't they all his children? Isn't it scary that schools aren't being built but prisons are. I didn't mean to get on my soapbox, but I read yesterday how they released 1000 people from prison in Iraq. Were they guilty of a crime that they served time for? Were they ever even guilty? Why are we over there again? Nation Building? How many bombers were from Iraq again? And please don't send me any hate mail. I live in this country called America, where we get to speak our mind. I'm black, white with a bit of Native American like most black folks in America. And people who don't agree with this war still love America. One last thing the reason why I think I went this way today. A few years ago, I used to be the most patriotic person. I grew up in a suburb of Houston, almost like a small town. It was me who would pick up my younger brother and my nieces and nephews and take them to the fourth of July events we had. We would ooh and aah over the fireworks that the put to music. I was even a little embarrassed at how sentimental I felt when I would pass a flag waving in the wind. Sometimes my eyes would moisten up with the thought at how blessed we were to live in such a country. I used to live right next to the boy scouts headquarters. One of my first boyfriends was an Eagle scout( I thought that was sexy!)Now I am sad because I don't feel that way anymore. I don't feel that sense of pride and togetherness. Does that make me bad?

I'm pretty impressed by Ms. Sheehan. Someone needs to force the issue, but people seem to either so right wing that nothing the GOP does today is wrong or too timid to speak up. I support the troops 100% but the justification is questionable and the situation is WAY more complicated than Bush understood when he landed that plane and declared victory. At the same time I do not think we can leave now.
