Council Bluffs, Iowa: Day 8

Well today began early. I woke up at about 515am and phoned the call in number for the contractor so they would aware of my absence. Even though I told my foreman I still needed to call in to make it 'official'. After I did that I rolled over and went back to sleep,

I woke back up around 800am, got up and took a shower. I then left to try and figure out where the place I saw last January was. I sort of remembered but I didn't know exactly where it was. I turned off on a highway and figured out that it was not the right way. Then I back tracked and went a little further down from where I turned off originally and it began to look familiar. I made a few turns and yipppeee there it was.

Now the problem was getting ahold of the manager because there is not one on site. So I called the number that the entrance had on it. The number that I called is to a message center that in turn forwards me to the managers cell phone (that's right,..a cell phone). So I ended up getting his voicemail. I left a message saying that it was imperative that he contacts me ASAP because I specifically took this day off to look for a place and he was my first and only contact at the time. As I waited for him to call me back I got a little imapatient. Three hours later I called the message center again. This time they told me that just by chance he was talking on the phone with another operator there. They told me they would talk to him and tell him to call me immediately. Ten minutes later he called. We set up a time to meet one another at the property at 400pm.

When we met he showed me the one bedroom and it was nice. There is a living room w/ a fireplace, a kitchen w/ a dishwasher, and a bedroom w/ a ceiling fan. There is also a washer and dryer in the room. It comes totally furnished with linens, kitchen untensils, and of course furniture. I was kinda at odds with myself though because I did have another option. The other option was a hotel that had a kitchenette (microwave, stove burner, fridge, and sink) for about $110 cheaper a week. It's not necessarily that it was alot cheaper but I considered the difference in price. Also it wasn't a matter of affordability because I could afford either. It's just I am a firm believer that the less you spend the more you have. After alot of debate I decided to take the more expensive one. I am here for awhile so I might as well be comfortable and also you never know who you may want to invite over.

Well that has been pretty much my day. I knew (like I mentioned a few days ago) that I would probably work harder on my day off than I would have if I was working. I was right! I will be checking out of here tomorrow morning and moving into my new place after work tomorrow evening. As far as my internet connection is concerned I will be on dialup until such time I make arrangements to have a cable modem put in so that's going to be fun. Might as well turn back the hands of time,! Check back for more tomorrow!

What a day!
