On The Road Again

Here shortly, I'm driving to Indiana. Though the drive will be arduous, I am quite anxious to be there. My goddaughter is the child of one of my Marine Corps brothers.

When I ask myself why I'd drive 13 hours each way for a 4 day trip, I'm reminded of what makes a man worthwhile.

You see, fifteen years ago, all my brothers and I made a promise. We would always call each other every couple of months and on the Marine Corps birthday, and when one of our kids needed us, we'd be there if at all possible.

I hadn't seen my goddaughter since then. But I found out long ago, that a man is only as good as his word. And so, I take solace that my word is golden. It helps me look in the mirror each day, and be proud of who I am and what I stand for.

Semper fidelis is more than just words.

Until next time...

I have always said that words are the most beautiful man-made invention. They have the power to put thoughts into action. "A man is only as good as his word" is very powerful to me. A promise is a promise, plain and simple. Take care ... Safe travels .... Blessings.

I remain ...

Semper vigilantis
