Things You Don't Want to Hear ...

Things you don't want to hear when you're undergoing an op under local anaesthetic:

Nurse: Sorry, it slipped.
Doctor: That's okay - we'll just try again.

{pause for concentrated fiddling in area of right testis}

Doctor: Got it?
Nurse: Yep ...
{nervous laughter} Oh I can't believe this!
{looking at patient} Hope this isn't worrying you ...

Of course not!

This minor drama aside, dear reader, todays little event seems to have gone remarkably well. The op itself was pain-free and barely even caused discomfort. Although I felt mildly nauseous for a while afterwards and a certain sensation of something not quite right down below, it's not been painful ... well, except when I made the mistake of walking to the shop and back. Gravity is not my friend!

I have been specifically banned from using an ice pack though - apparently they're concerned that the condensation at this stage is likely to increase the risk of infection; bruising is, I suppose, a better idea than that.

Anyway, guys, if you're tempted by the idea of a vasectomy but put off by the pain, don't be ... though I reserve the right to change my opinion at any point over the next few days

I have to back you up on the pain-free op. But over the next few days I had a "reaction" to the dissolving stitch material. It felt like someone was tying those stitches abit tighter every twenty minutes until eventually the pain was enough for me to go and have them removed.

But that won't happen to you ... will it?

Did they tell you to use Antibiotic Ointment on your stitches? If you use the Ointment it will help with the itching and pulling when the stitches start to heal.

I'm glad, "Sorry, it slipped." came out of the nurse's mouth and not the doctor's. Then you really would have had something to worry about. I'm glad it all went well.

Glad you had the courage to go though with it ,
we made that discission 19 years ago and never regretted it ,
it did hurt a bit for a few days, ans the doc bruised on of my testicles , , unavoidable he said , as he could not get a grip on the little tube he wanted to cut.
Most embarrassing bit was afterwards, when I had to go back to hospital to give them a sample, I was led into a small room, glass jar in hand and told I had 10 mins , and to look at the playboys laying around if I needed help . lol

Greatest benifit was for Mrs GB , never having to take the pill, or worry each month, ( although we do of course practice safe sex, when we have a little " adventure

I'm glad that everything went well for you.

My one and only surgery was a c-section. In the operating room, just as I was beginning to slip into the anesthetic I heard someone say, "I don't know about the rest of you but I am still half asleep..." I wasn't sure I would ever wake up and was too far under to scream!

Not all who wander are lost.

Okay, so I have a problem: Mistress BB3 wants pictures; SweetAlyssum tells me not to post pictures. I guess the answer would be to offer to email them directly to interested individuals ... except there is nothing to see So far no interesting bruises or major swelling so, people, I guess you'll have to wait for someone else to take this step instead!

Albert ... No, it won't. Definitely not. I have decided

XesSex03 ... Yeah, tell me that story in a couple of weeks, once I know everything is back in working order (except, of course, those two little bits that shouldn't be!).

Network_Minx ... As I understand it, antibiotic ointment isn't available over the counter here (though antiseptic ointment is) and it wasn't offered to me. I'm due to start rinsing the wounds with salt water tomorrow ... oh joy, oh joy!

Pussinboots ... No I haven't Not unless PrincessKarma decides to pay a visit anyway

Papy, GBC ... Have no fear, Quiet is a sensible chap and understands the value of condoms!

GBC ... And I get to give my samples at home ... then, of course, I have the mad dash over to the hospital, sample in hand. God help me if I get delayed en route!

Nip ... I'll look forward to wearing it. What's the Latin?

MissAnn, TheFlinkyChick ... I have to agree there are worse things to hear than I got! Still, as the Doc had already managed to flick the nerve on one side (ouchie), it was slightly disconcerting to discover that the nurse kept dropping something into by scrotum!
