Teenagers

It's finally happened! Son of Quiet is finally a real teenager!

He stayed overnight yesterday ... and slept in until 10.30!

This may not mean much to you till unless you realise that this is the first time, except for during illnesses, that he hasn't woken me by 8am at the latest. Ahhhhh the pleasure of the lazy Sunday lie-in is mine once more (even if I am lying in on the sofa).

I always knew it had to come eventually; after all, who ever heard of a teenager getting up regularly at the crack of dawn?

My little boy is all growed up

It reminds me, by the way, of a card I was sorely tempted to buy him on his 13th birthday. On the front it said

Now you're a teenager, people will expect you to be difficult, rude, short-tempered, lazy and an all-round nuisance

and inside it said

so ... no change there then.

Jx

Lol... so you're telling me Master Hansen is a teen already?? He only hits that magic number in two weeks time, but he's been doing the late lie-ins for months!!

Hx

PS. Can you get that card for me... it would be perfect!!

Love, hugs and kisses from ♥♥HH♥♥

i'm soooo jealous -- that is the time me and my husband are holding out for --!!! sleep, sleep, glorious sleep. only consolation for us is my daughter, upon waking us at the crack of dawn says cute things like: "what a wunnerful day!"

Time passes by very quickly. My youngest cousin is turning 8 next Tuesday. I still remember the days I used to babysit and carry him all around.

Unless Hubby has to go to work he does not rise until well after noon.....Hmm, wondering if he is a teenager trapped in a man's body!!!!

Lmao!....Wait until he's just coming home at 10.30am on a Sunday morning and his sex life is more exciting than yours. It's awful I promise you. xx

And it gets no better. For a good few years anyway. But the lie-ins get longer

10:30? That's it? My, the differences in cultures. You're not a true American teenager until you sleep in until at least noon on weekends and are surly when you wake up.

Helga ... Young Master Hansen is obviously mature for his age! I'll send you the card if I can spot it again

FreeLove ... As they age, the problems just change. Right now, when Son of Quiet wakes me up it's normally with such uplifting words as "I'm hungry" ...

Sassybelle ... Yeah, it gets me like that sometimes too. Is this hulking, great thing really the same lad I used to cradle against my shoulder?

BB ... All I can say is I would hate to be 13 again ... being condemned to repeat my adolescence has to rate as one of my worst nightmares!

Free ... One of my ex-mothers-in-law used to claim that all men were children ... perhaps Mr Free has just found a way to express the child inside

Wacky ... I'm tempted to say that his sex life is already more exciting than mine! He's already told me that he'll want to stay here at my flat when he's out for That Sort of Night. Apparently he feels it's a good idea because (a) I live closer to the sort of place he's likely to be boozing than his Mum does and (b) he has the idea I'll be less likely to criticise if he brings company home with him

Free , ALL men are teenagers trapped in a man's body lol

Q, don't worry it's only a phase they go though, it lasts 7 years, then they become twenties, It's sometimes worse !
And you can always have the last laugh,
just tell him, " look at this face- It's you in thirty years !

Ah yes. The blissful time of youth when they stop yanking your chain in the morning only to have them worry you to death at night....Did I really say blissful???

Oh, to be physically 13 again... knowing what I know now I'd take a whole different life path. (Bet you were thinking something else... pervs).

Wakytits, That's a good one!

Mine turned 15 today. Wants to know when he can get his learners permit, I told him over my dead body. He was home from school for 2 weeks for winter break. It was a good day if he came out of his room before noon.

MissAnnThrope ... you have to remember that Son of Q is still only 13. I'm quite sure (and dim memory suggests) that he'll get the hang of lying in properly soon enough now he's started. I can but hope

GBC ... Unfortunately, I don't even have that consolation. He takes after his Mum.

HotandHorny ... I don't think they ever stop being a worry; it's just that you worry about different things as they get older!

CelticKarma ... Princess, I tend not to think that way. It's entirely futile. Yes, there were a whole raft of things I can now see as mistakes but which, in themselves, brought lots of pleasures along the way. Who can be sure that things wouldn't have turned out even worse if I had the choices to make all over again? The only thing I feel sure of is I would still have made mistakes - just different ones. And, oh, to have to live through the acne and adolescent awkwardness all over again ...

GreenEyes ... At least over here he can't start hassling me to learn to drive until he's 17!

Goddess ... Want to remind me?
