Am I the only person who finds the idea of a sitting Member of Parliament taking part in Celebrity Big Brother slightly disturbing?

Granted, I don't have the highest opinion of 'Georgous' George Galloway, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, but I don't see how he can claim to be representing his constituents while lazing in the Big Brother House, making a spectacle of himself.

It has, of course, been said that the country would operate more effectively without MPs getting in the way. One could also argue that Mr G is, in some post-modernist fashion, drawing our attention to the contention that one of the key requirements of one of the people's representatives is that they are entertainers (cf Arnold S. and Ronald R.).

Or perhaps he's just a self-pubicising {the remainder of this article has been deleted on legal advice}

As we have all recently learnt, the best way of dealing with these people is to deny them the publicity they seek, by ignoring them.
If only TV producers and news editors thought the same way

i thought that after hearing it being discussed on various news programmes but then i figured even mp's probably have holiday leave. and his absense must have be cleared by someone? maybe its all a cunning plan to get rid of him once and for all?

I find it very easy to ignore all this palaver. For two simple reasons... I hate watching reality TV, and I can't vote in this country, so while I can't get away from politics (it's in the news every bloody day), I just switch off. Having said that, I do love reading Private Eye!!

But here's something to ponder... I bet Jodie "Get Yer Tits Out" Marsh had no idea who he was before he joined her in the house... I bet you she'll never forget him now!!

PS. I hear Jodie's cuddled up in bed with a wad of cash this weekend... I hope she does something sensible with the money, like give it to charity...

Love, hugs and kisses from ♥♥HH♥♥

Galloway is and always will be a t**t. ( and no that doesnt spell twit !!!). First of all where does he get off talking about "class"..and him being on a different level to the other housemates? Unless its different levels of wankers..and then, yes, he is on a higher level. Who are these so called celebrities anyway? I turned off once he was playing pussycat with Rula Lenska..ffs....

Diz xx

GBC ... True enough

EE ... There's probably material to start a thesis here on how "Britishness" is changing!

Slightly_Sexy8 ... Oops ... not like me to make that sort of a mistake. Your namesake comes from London too, you know! At least I was able to go back and change that As for the thing of MPs leave, my understanding is that they are meant to be on official business during the Parliamentary Session - they have nice long holidays in between the sessions anyway. That said, I see your point: I can't imagine he's been missed much in the House of Commons ... he's even provided a useful gag for the speechwriters of those he left behind!

Helga ... Private Eye, eh? A woman of good taste indeed I bet, though, that Jodie Marsh wishes she could forget him - as far as I'm concerned, no wad of cash would be enough compensation!

Dizzy ... But I guess you've been watching it? I suppose you can claim you had an excuse with being confined to your sick-bed!

BB3 ... Just

Papy ... Catch me on a programme like that! I don't even watch them, let alone pay to vote for them! Call me strange ...

Nip ... "People who are impressed with this shite need to get a life and set their sights on what they wish to achieve a little higher". I wouldn't argue with that. Very few people on these programmes are exactly what we'd want as role models for our children; if they were, they'd be deemed to dull to go into the House! I only pick on GGG because of his supposed role as a representative of the people. That said, given the number of viewers that love this stuff ...

Ideal ... I'm not even going to try to answer that!
