As I Was Saying ...

After I wrote my little I'm Back piece (It's That Man Again ) someone happened to ask me in passing whether I always lived in a fantasy world.

Of course not, I spluttered, far from it!

After all, can you imagine the repercussions of me drifting away into dreamland when I'm carrying out a complex piece of neurosurgery? Or, indeed, bringing a 747 into land at Chicago O'Hare in turbulent conditions?

As I said to Bill Gates the other day at the special premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean II(we'd been invited as special guests of Kiera Knightly ‒ a lovely lady if, as I've had to remind her on several occasions, a bit too keen on her chip suppers), focus is all-important. If he needed an example he only needed to look at Windows ME. He laughed at that. Good sense of humour, old Billy boy.

Hmm, this just proves that pregnancy does turn your brain to mush.

Later!

The secret, Akron, is to realise that all the doors are the wrong door

Next time you happen to be rubbing shoulders with Billy, can you just kick him in the shins for me. Windows ME... it should stand for "Windows Major Error"... that operating system should never have been allowed to see the light of day!!!

And there is nowt wrong with chip suppers... hell, now I have a craving for chips... can expecting father/mothers also have cravings? (I'm considering asking for a DNA test to make sure that baby really is mine... )

I always thought it was a delicious irony that this particular version of Windows shared its name with a medical condition that reduces previously fit and able people to wrecks who can suddenly no longer function.

Mind you, I'd also love to see the expression on the doctor's face if you were to go to ask for a maternity test on an unborn baby!
