It's not easy to say something meaningful to the victims of a disaster, natural or otherwise.

The suffering of the people in New Orleans is as real as that experienced by millions every day, and they have my sympathy (all of them).

I run a business dedicated to improving the lives of the most disadvantaged people in the world through trading ethically with them. It's an attitude toward business and life that few seem to hold and even fewer find the will to implement.

I hope that the global exposure of what has happened in New Orleans will cause the politicians, business people, and religious leaders of the world to take a good hard look at the consequences of their actions, both at home and abroad.

Perhaps one day we can all put aside our differences and treat each other and our planet with respect.

To the people of New Orleans and all those effected by the hurricane, you have my sympathy. I hope that someone makes it their one goal in life to ensure this never happens again.
