Choose Happiness! And Choose Optimism!

I recently read tillerbabe's posting dated 2/22/06 and entitled [post 245440]. TB just seems to radiate a positive and infectious attitude of happiness and optimism!

Do yourself a favor and go read her posting. It will lift your spirit as it did mine when I first read it a few days ago. I have not been able to get the message from her posting out of mind since I read it.

In fact, her posting has caused me to think again about a creed which I recite in unison with other civic club members at our weekly meetings. I'm a member of one our local Optimist Clubs. Optimist Clubs work on projects to benefit youth. Our motto is "Friend of Youth". The Optimist International ( OI ) logo is recopied as the photo associated with this posting.

The creed we recite is the Optimist Creed "Promise Yourself". I think it contains many lofty ideas and worthwhile objectives for positive and optimistic living. I'm certain that TB would wholeheartedly subscribe to this creed, and I believe that TB is, in fact, a true optimist whether or not she belongs to an Optimist Club in the Seattle area!

I suspect we have other AdultFriendFinder bloggers who are Optimist Club members. I hope that those of you who are not members will benefit by considering the words of The Optimist Creed ...

Promise Yourself -

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

And I further hope that, if you are not already a member of a civic organization which is helping other people through worthwhile projects, you will consider joining an Optimist Club in your local area.

[blog goddess1946] - Thanks for the information! I will go there and check it out! Perhaps that is a cause and organization that Optimist International would like to get behind and support in some way! Bless you for helping children in this way!

BigGirlzRSweet - I am so happy that the OI Creed is meaningful to you! I know you teach kindergarten, BGRS. Sometimes schools have unfunded needs. If your school has such unfunded needs, consider contacting someone from a local Optimist Club there in Toledo to request financial support. Sometimes our clubs are looking for new, creative ways to help children. All the best to you hon!

tillerbabe - Thanks TB! If you are not an Optimist Club Member or a member of some other civic organization there in Seattle, please consider joining one. Civic groups need positive, caring people like you! Thanks again for your post regarding
"Happiness"! It really did help to lift my spirit!

[blog Bct2Esi] - If you have 6-10 people in your local area who would be interested in forming an Optimist Club, I would be happy to help you get in contact with members from a Colorado club who would help your form and start up your own new club! I hope the OI Creed "Promise Yourself" helps to uplift your best friend!

MOfunNOWWOW - I know you are busy as the dickens already, but you might really enjoy membership in a local Optimist Club there in Joplin! Not only will you get a good feeling out of helping kids, you will also make some good business connections! And I know that your local Optimist Club would benefit by having a great person like you as a new member!

SensuallyKatey - I know you will be able to use the "Promise Yourself" Creed in your profession dear! We say that creed every week at our meetings. Over time, repeating those words aloud as a positive affirmation can make a difference in attitude. I keep a plaque with the creed at home and at my office. Thanks for your kind words dear!
[blog mzhunyhole] - You would make a fantastic Optimist Club member! You have the perfect attitude and you love children! Check out your local clubs and attend one or two of their meetings to get a feel for what they do in your local Kentucky area!

MOfunNOWWOW - That's just the point! It's not my responsibility or the responsibility of anyone else to "make you happy". You must make the CHOICE to be happy on your own! I cannot make you happy! But, I would enjoy persuading you in many other areas!

keithcancook - Excellent point!

I can't wait to read Tiller's post tonight. I really enjoyed reading your post this morning. I did not know there was such a club - I'll have to look up to see if there are any Sacramento chapters. What an excellent creed!!!

Whispersoftly5 - I think you'd make an outstanding Optimist Member, and I think you would also benefit by association with other positive people in your local community! Optimist Clubs all over the world need new members! Send me an email if you would like more information about the clubs in Sacramento.

Good Work Tiger.

I am a member of Lion's Clubs International, so we aren't brothers, but I would venture to say we are very good looking step brothers.

LustyTaurus - My Dad was a Lion, and I have many friends who are Lions! A great civic organization! They do a lot good work in the communities they serve and they especially do a good job with their eye bank and vision care programs. I was also once upon a time a member of Kiwanis International. Important for people to pick one civic club and get involved in community activities and projects which serve other human beings! All the best!

I do believe so strongly in keeping a positive attitude! I look for opportunities in everything...

I have been involved with several such organizations.. such as being on the local board of the YMCA and the Rotary Club.....

Thank you!!

fantasylover_05 - Thanks! The YMCA and Rotary International are two more great civic clubs that do magnificent work and desperately need new members! Wouldn't it be great if, by spreading the word about all these great service organizations, we could lead thousands of AdultFriendFinder members to rewarding memberships in one of the world's premier service organizations?!!! Now, that would be a good post ... The World's Premier Service Organizations and Their Missions.
