BLOG ON! *** Chapter 57

The silvery moon had already risen in Albany, Georgia. It was Thursday night, and the late news was just coming on. Steve Strong had just finished a pizza and a couple beers for a very late dinner. He had had to work late at the plant tonight. The telephone rang and as Steve reached over from the comfort of his big leather easy chair, he noticed that the Caller ID indicated the incoming call was from Karen Kitrane. It had been almost a week since he had been with her for the weekend in Atlanta. They
had had a wonderful time together, and the time had flown by way too fast. Karen had been very unhappy about her marriage, but after a long discussion about it on Saturday, she was able to put that out of her mind so that she and Steve could enjoy their time together.

"Hi, Karen!" Steve addressed her brightly as he answered on his cordless phone. Steve rose from his chair and began making his way through the house toward the kitchen.

"Hi, sweetie!" Karen answered in a distressed sounding voice.

"Steve, I've decided to go ahead with the divorce. I've spoken with an attorney here in Augusta and told him to proceed." Karen announced with a sad determination in her voice.

"Hon, I'm sorry for you, but we have talked about how you feel. I understand. I will support you in every possible way that I can!" Steve was empathetic as he sought to reassure her that he would be there for her.

"I need you, Steve. I was wondering if we could get together again this weekend? I need to talk to someone right now!" Karen's voice cracked as she spoke.

"Of course, baby! What were you thinking?"

"Well, I can get away from Saturday afternoon until Sunday night. My parents are willing to keep the kids and Luke will be going off on a golf trip with some of his buddies." Karen told Steve.

"Well, Karen, shall we meet in Atlanta again?" Steve inquired.

"Yes, that would be perfect. I can visit one of my suppliers and then we can get together for dinner." Karen explained her proposal.

"That sounds good to me. My weekend is free. I need to get some work done around here at the house tomorrow evening, but I should be able to get away too!" Steve replied.

"I'll make reservations tonight at the Sheraton again! Is that OK?" Steve inquired.

"Look, Karen, we've talked a lot, and I told you how I feel. I have told you that when you get to the point that you can walk away from your marriage, I will be here for you, hon!" Steve smoke clearly and convincingly.

"I know, Steve. That reassurance has been so important to me in making this decision. I am ready to move on. I want to move on with you in my life." Karen felt secure in her relationship with Steve and already knew that she wanted Steve in her life.

"We'll keep talking, baby. As I've said before, I'll wait for you. I'm glad you are taking this step. I know that you, and I can be happy together." Steve sounded very convincing and very happy.

"Shall I meet you in the lobby at the Sheraton at say around 4: 00 pm?" Steve asked.

"We better make it 5: 00 pm, Steve, just in case I get tied up." Karen answered.

"Great! I'll make the reservations tonight. I'll see you Saturday evening, hon!" Steve was excited and looking forward to another weekend with Karen.

"I'm looking forward to it, Steve! I need you so much!" Karen was beginning to sound more uplifted now in sharp contrast to the way she sound when the telephone conversation started.

As Steve switched off his cordless headset, he began to flip through the Rolodex on his kitchen counter, looking for the number of the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. Steve was excited about the news he had received from Karen, and he couldn't wait to see her again.
