The philosophical bike rider

Well I finally hit the 10 mile mark (or at least pretty darn close) on my ride tonight.

The surprising thing is that I wasn't really all that sore, or tired, or anything. I even took on, and conquered, some of the hills that I had previously avoided.

While I was riding, I was being philosophical and thinking that a bike ride is very indicative of life. Okay, you're probably thinking the heat has gotten to me... but bear with me on this.

My thought was this....
"For every hill you coast down, you must eventually pedal hard to get back to the top"

Sure, it doesn't flow easily... but you get my point.

There are times when life is easy and everything is going your way... but eventually you come to a point where you need to put out a lot of effort in order to achieve the summit.

Yup, great analogy!

I used to ride my bike when I lived in NYC all the time.
I bought a brand new one 2 years ago, and it's still sitting in the garage with the price tag on it! Damn shame, I tell ya.

Keep on pedaling....

That's another weird thing about last night- I really wasn't all that thirsty. Most times I end up with cotton mouth but not last night.
