What do you say to your doctor when he lectures you about losing weight during your pregnancy? I lost 3 pounds over the last month. No, it's not a lot, but I also started out my first month with a 6 pound loss, my second month losing another 2 pounds, my third lost another 3 pounds, my fourth I gained back 2 pounds and now I've lost 3 pounds again. That is a net loss of 12 pounds since I got knocked up. He thinks I am dieting! Are you kidding me!!!!?!!!! I am starving here. I am hungry all the time, I eat every chance I get and then I usually end up in the bathroom 30 minutes later revisiting my meal. If I eat any form of meat whatsoever, pork, chicken, beef it doesn't matter; I am seeing that again before I finish my plate even. It is exhausting. I feel weak and tired. I still have morning sickness, and I just want to have one meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner anything where I can eat the entire thing and not feel sick afterward. Is this too much to ask?

My kids think that I am SICK, like the with the flu all the time. I tried to talk to the doctor about a diet for myself and he gives me a vegetarian diet, I look up vegetarian diets in my pregnancy books but they are not helping either. Most of the stuff on there makes me sick too. Dairy products that re so thick, like cottage cheese, yogurts etc. that make me gag if I try to eat them. I might die if this continues. It is so frusterating. I just want to enjoy the simple pleasure of not being hungry.

By body aches, my muscles hurt, I can't sleep at night and for some reason I am freezing cold all the time. Through all of this, Alice keeps telling me that I am not helping her enough. I get up with kids, I do the laundry, I take care of the animals, I do the dishes. So at what point am I supposed to help her out too? I dress and bathe the littles get them all of the places they are supposed to be, handle thier illnesses, wipe their little bottoms. But somehow I am failing to do my share. Someone please explain to me where I am falling short here! Is it because my house isn't as clean as it used to be? Well, shouldn't she be helping ME more? Or maybe it's because I don't wake up at 6am to get her shower started and lay her work clothes out for her. Can't she do that on her own now? I need a little more sleep! Am I being selfish?

I feel like I am NOT asking too much, but yet evryday she complains and fights me about the things I am not getting done in a day. Let's not forget, that I still work a full time job through all of this. Yet she expects me to still do everything single thing I did before I got pregnant. I am exhausted, running on fumes and starting to really get bitchy. Maybe I am selfish. I want to be spoiled a little bit right now. Doesn't every pregnant mother deserve that?

Sorry for the rant and rave today. I just had to get it off my chest and vent to someone and my brother is off on a two week military thing for the reserves. So you all got to hear it instead. Thanks for listening.

Try Slim Fast. It is full of the nutrients your body and bady need. It can get a little expensive, but you can always buy the mix which is cheaper. It is high in fiber which helps flush all the toxins out, if ya know what I mean.LOL

No your not being selfish, she is!!! Botttom line.

SweetDarlinAngel replies on 6/14/2006 1:13 pm:
I would use Slim Fast but that would probably make me lose even more weight! Then he'd really start to yell at me. I'm supposed to have gained 10 pounds by now, not lost weight. But how am I supposed to help that? Oh well, I do my best. Maybe Slim Fast would help a little if I could actually keep it down! *giggles*

There's some really good advice about diet here. You can get nutrients without too many calories. Your body does know what it wants and I know you are capable of a thoughtful diet. And anyhow when was the doctor last pregant? He should be asking you, for chrissakes. And you're certainly not being selfish at all, and sharing some of those house chores doesn't make Alice more feminine, any more than it would a man.

Take care, sweetie. I am so sorry things aren't easier. Reaching out and hugs.

warm xx

I know, it's just frustrating! He acts like I am losing weight on purpose. Granted, it's nice to lose weight, who doesn't like to do that? But I'm not trying to do it while I'm pregnant. For crying out loud, I'm smarter than that!

Don't be concerned with the weight loss it comes with the raging hormones. Everyones body reacts differently to the shock you are going through and about to go through. You should know that better than me.

A friend of mine lost weight for the first four months of the pregnancy. She went though it all and the baby turned out perfect.

As for the keeping food down your going to have to have tiny meals, like a cracker or two, and eat a lot more often.

Good luck,

P.S. Thanks for signing my blog.

Hey thanks for the advice ... I just wish they made London Broil Flavored crackers ... maybe crackers that tasted like a 3 course meal. That would be wonderful

Who I am I kidding? I'd be happy with just being able to keep a few saltines down in the morning. *giggles*

Sugar ya do need to be spoiled. I am so sorry you are having a time of it. Have you tried ensure supplements? You need to have a talk with Alice and let her know how serious this is about you losing weight and thatsince you aren't getting nourishment (fuel) (energy) you need extra rest. You do need help and in a hurry. Take care of you whether anyone in listening or not. For you and the baby. If you dont do it NOBODY else will. Big BIG hugs!

Thanks so much for your recent response to my post. I did a public thanks but wanted you to know that I appreciate you personally for supporting me through this crappy time. All of you mean so much and are getting me through Kisses, jacqueline

And I'm glad anything I said (even though I know it wasn't the most politcally correct) may have helped you. Keep you head up and when we look back, we can say ... yup- jumped that damn puddle too.

But if your not holding anything down, and you manange to hold the Slim Fast down, you will be much better off because of all the vitamins plus a good serving of protein.

That's the whole thing.... getting those nutrients into you. Also, you should try a tablespoon of peanut butter here and there. Lot's of protein. If not that something like Ensure.

I can't believe your doctor hasn't been telling you this stuff?? Maybe you should consider changing because he seems to very apathetic to your problems and symptoms.

That is the whole problem with our medical system. The way these doctors are taught if a pill they prescribe can't fix it, they are clueless.

Hang is there sweetheart.

you need some ginger tea with every meal -- it settles the stomach and is recommended in lots of pregnancy guides. my nanny was having the same trouble and it really helped. ... also get to your health remedies shop and ask them for the biochemic tissue salt for nausea (i think it is number 11 -- NatMur) ... these are 100% safe to use in pregnancy and were prescribed by my midwife -- and i really found they work. there are different ones for all kinds of ailments. gaeb here will come back later...

so as i was saying -- you really should check out biochemic tissue salts -- for all pregnancy ailments -- there are ones for your joints swelling up, water retention, muscle cramps, nausea, headaches and even ones for if you get colds/flu while pregnant.

to make ginger tea, just add some boiling water to some fresh chopped ginger, or if to dried ginger and let is steep for a bit. you can add honey and lemon for flavour if you want, or drink as is. you will be amazed how well it works. alternatively get yourself some ginger biscuits or something like gingerade.
