Saturday evening with a bowl of chili

If you want to call this chili. I already had dried beans. The food bank, when I went there last November, gave me all this canned stuff, and I had a can of tomato soup, a can of peeled tomatoes, a smaller can that just said tomatoes on it. 2 packets of taco seasoning. It's not bad, I suppose, but I don't know I"d call it chili. It does have some chili powder in it. Gives it a little tingle.

I have a fire going, something I do to keep the furnace off. Where's the gas company get off? Yeesh! But I found out I prefer heat from wood. Forced air is so nebulous, but, with this, if you're cold, just move closer to the fireplace.

It's a better type of heat, I think. It really warms you through, fire does.

Staring into my fireplace at least once a week has become habit. Don't know what I see there. But it's fascinating.

The warmth from the fireplace here just seems to penetrate to the bone, easing those aches you get at my age. There's something mellowing about tending a fire.

'Scuse me, I got a hot date with my fireplace. Pun intended.

I know what you mean ...I love to stay up late staring into campfires...
I even have a piece of the last one to start the new one with...I started doin that as a means of continuity from camp to camp...now its just old hat I guess since i now spend more time out doors than in...
fire warms the outside as well as the in...I dont ever want to be to civilized to enjoy the fire at camp or at home... or the reflection on my tent flap as i go to sleep in the night knowing that the morrow will be better than the one i just had....I'll raise my coffee cup to you and say cheers..............
